This Business and Moment...

Tbh it's the same at work. A lot of people never reply or acknowledge emails etc. So I usually have a "if no reply" what will happen. That might be the issue will escalated, or considered resolved. In that I'm never held up waiting for a reply. I can move forward or abandon.
I like that! However, i don't think i would be comfortable moving forward on a decision because i didn't get a reply. Somewhere down the line it would bite me on the ass no doubt. However, it may gee up someone to reply in the first place.

It depends on the circumstances.

When you've ended up without a boss within the org for over a year you tend to develop a pretty good feeling for this. My technique tended to be a little more direct, going to levels up and emailing their boss's boss (large org), naturally being polite but getting the work done.

A whole department axed today. Not great to lose colleagues. Ours is fine at least. Although now I’ve been told I can’t manage two departments at once, funny how it was fine when they had no choice.

And after some punchy communication with management I seem to live for another day :p

Meanwhile the other half is at some million pound mansion shindig with her boss and a load of celebrities tonight. A different world for sure.

I get the feeling there's a lot of people in the same boat, 2025 is meant to see the shoots of growth but think it's all overoptimistic reporting.

Definitely seems that way - sadly I doubt they are done with making roles redundant in my place though so far I've escaped, quite a few businesses around here are going to the wall and/or doing substantial layoffs - whatever the intentions might have been Labour have pushed many struggling businesses over the edge this year by the looks of it especially with the extra NI costs.

Certainly kick the can upwards if needs be. It's a judgement call. Had one yesterday someone sitting on work, by asking a million questions, I cut them off saying my availability had closed, and I was no longer part of their project and my part was completed.

I think a lot of places particularly in tech, are on a cost cutting drive. Or shuffling their spend to look better in the market.
