This cannot be for real...

but it's not brand new though is it?
it's 3 years old and out of warranty

Brand new as in sense of never been used. Same as your PC was possibly made 6 months before you purchased it.

Apart from the fact it's out of warrenty (you could just buy one with the savings) then the car won't be mechanically any worse than a brand new car, right?

Can I just point out that I notice a few of you don't disclose your actual location, yet these Autotrader searches leave your Postcode viewable.

Nothing major, just thought you'd like to know if you didn't already.

Good point, you wouldn't want someone to find out where you hiding your punto would you?

:o

Yeah, doesn't bother me. Could be anyone of 40+ houses down my road, and it might not even be my post code, a friend could have sent me the link.

What effect would sitting there unused for years have on the car? Would a good service sort it or could it cause other problems?

Depends if the cars has been de-waxed (assuming new cars are still waxed!) - The paint may be a bit faded possibly. I'd imagine the brakes may have siezed and perhaps the fluids could do with a flush, otherwise, I'd guess it should be ok.

As its being sold by a dealer, there would be some kind of warranty backup also.

Seems to me a better way to buy a 5 for 1 series money than the usual route of one thats already done 50 - 100k ?

Are these a bad idea then? I want one! Does look like a good price even if it is 'old'.
Don't know if it would be such a good idea, though, having only just passed in December and driving a Ford Focus :)

Haha £2k insurance, awesome :)

They are from Saudi Arabia IIRC. They are also at least 3 years old despite never having been used.
I doubt they are from Saudi as they drive on the right.

Most likely SE asia, may also have been manufactured in one of their plants.

You dont half come out with some bizarre comments at times. Why would the usual way of getting a 5 Series for £22k involve buying one with 50-100k on it?

This sort of money buys a 2007/2008 car with under 30k on it.

Sorry Fox, I don't spend my life looking at the used values of 2007/2008 BMW 5's.

The "?" means a question rather than a point, something that I think you missed entirely. ;)
