This does not surprise me

Business grind became more important than family life and with it most of our working class culture disappeared, countries are ran like a business to benefit the business owners, we basically live in a modern slavery where you must work as many hours as possible and have no time left for anything else.
Like the Edwardian era, Victorian era, and from what i gather basically most of human history apart from the couple of decades that followed shortly after WWII up until the end of the post war consensus.

I do find the loss of 7000 pubs in 10 years quite depressing. Pubs have always been a huge part of social life in this country. Out of the 5 pubs I drunk in as a young man, just 1 remains. The situation on high streets is saddening too. Almost everything gone here and being replaced by immigrant run halal takeaways and Turkish barbers.
I spy a very rosey red and salty gammon

Dunno what pubs you went to but turning one of our locals in to a Turkish barber or takeaway place would mean being able to take 3000 customers at once.

Why does that make me a gammon? Explain
It's clearly abnormal for people to have a social life outside of work, or any spare time in the day not addicted to a screen.

Those of us from older generations who witnessed the decline must stay quiet or be a gammon

Well when you make a semi reasonable comment about the decline of the highstreet then by default tack on a slightly more nuanced version of "all the highstreet shops are brown people now", It kind of tells me you have a not so hidden agenda and viewpoint
Why are you stereotyping all immigrants as brown people? Bit racist if you ask me

Love thess threads, just goes to show we have a lot of people on the forum that drink at..

Nah it's not a Wetherspoons.

Rob, am I imagining it or did you not write a post about 3 plus years ago saying that you only had six months to live? Obviously if that was the case, I'm glad you're still with us, but like I feel I've missed something.
That’s what I was told by the doctors at the time, but my condition is very rare, so it was probably their best guess.

most sad to see undermined? communities, parents sitting in a street talking to each other whilst the kids play, everyone knowing who there neighbours are on the whole street etc.
Things I remember from my childhood that got wiped out because life is too busy now, productivity is king

our society is literally crap unless your in the top 40% and even then people live beyond their means and basically have the same crap grind with a few perks like more holidays, a bigger car and a better house.

Did working Sundays really make people lives better? maybe at first the extra days money seemed nice, but society declined as a whole because of things like that and basically our culture eroded away as people don't have time for the important things in life.

Queuing seems to be dying pretty fast, as does please and thank you.

I see the new culture is clearing your throat extremely loudly in public and spitting, or blowing your nose at gale force winds

@Zenduri omg gammon for having an opinion? were you live BOY??? I'm from Bulwell, we all gammons there right
There's nothing there that you have contributed to. Just things you liked taking advantage of. So you've completely failed to answer the question.

Also, are you really trying to blame that all on immigrants?

We've just had 14 years of exactly the government the racists, xenophobes and bigots wanted. Why aren't they taking responsibility for where we are now?

Lots of people have said all along that this is what would happen if idiots voted in the grifters. We also said the voters were all entitled shirkers who'd never admit responsibility.

It's grim being proved right this often.
