It actually annoys me also, but only as I'm a stickler for detail in business, if you don't own your own business you wouldn't understand

Its business like these not using their domain names for emails.
It shows you have a small business, and don't understand technology (ie a little on thick side)

This Guy...
A bus with a hand painted logo, domain name and then a painted AOL email address. If they have bought the domain then they have the mailboxes all they have to do is setup email forwarding

While I agree with you the type of businesses with these free email accounts tend to be small (as you said) and in a non IT orientated market where it really doesn't matter that much at all. Some of these companies are most likely quite old and haven't really caught up but in their market it makes little difference to be IT savvy. Hell, most of them still use fax.
