Coming to? Homicide has been occurring since the dawn of man and will still occur until we're extinct. :p

Do you need some social conditioning?

Well it was more a rhetorical question but still, a 14 year old girl arrested for murdering a 24 year old man. It's crazy :(

Definitely an unusual one. I wonder what the situation was... Im sure it will come out in time... A 14 year old girl stabbing a 24 year old man... Self defence? Used his own weapon against him? Who knows...

Some barbarian beheaded a woman in broad daylight in France as well... The thought makes me feel physically sick. And unsafe...

:D

That'll be that, then.
The cheeky barsteward is now suggesting that we do a different route: one that involves quite a long section up a very narrow chimney quite deep inside the rock, which many have likened to be more like caving than climbing.

Why cheeky? Because for all the years we've known each other, I've been a lot bigger than I am now and would normally find that kind of thing a very tight squeeze. :D

He doesn't know that I'm a lot smaller than I was ( lost a lot of muscle unfortunately over the last year or two, but that's ok because it's a v easy technical grade climb) so I should be ok. I'll keep that to myself for now though and sandbag it a bit by suggesting I take Lurpak instead of chalk.

I've missed this. :D

Edit: this is the route:

"Crag features
Rarely used but has some good routes up to 220ft, *snip*. Perhaps best fun for Lockwood's Chimney (Diff) - often done in the dark when drunk."

How can I possibly resist?

Rather you than me.

Im happy you're rekindling an old friendship though :)

Cheers buddy. Yea, I can't wait.

Rock climbing is brilliant and I recommend it to anyone, providing they get a proper grounding. Indoor stuff is a great, completely safe, introduction. If you're a bit heavy or lacking in confidence, try some easy slab stuff - it's just as good - and build up from there.

I was lucky enough to learn from a great bunch of experienced climbers in my mid 20's (this guy being one of them) and I regret giving it up. I was already very fit when I took it up and progressed very quickly but moved away for work in the early 2000's and lost touch with it afterwards. It was a great career move but was the sacrifice worth it? I'm not so sure.

Anyway, this began not as me getting back into it but more of a test for my head-state and as a pilgrimage to a mate who I lost a few years ago (that's another story), but I think it could grow into something more again. Will I climb E grades again? I don't know and I don't care. As long as I'm enjoying myself, I'll be happy climbing Diff/VDiff/VS etc. :)

I'll post some pics of our antics, it will be a hoot. :D

Edit:
It's worth noting that we are both very local to the area and will not be breaking any covid restictions. Wales' current lockdown means strictly "no social mixing" and is due to last another week or so and beyond that, exercise may still only be permitted "from the doorstep". Luckily we have bicycles so after that point we will be able to get there within the rules. I also have a respirator but wearing it gives me the most tremendous boner so that could present its own issue when climbing such a tight chimney. :D

Having taught the GLR method to now more than 30 aspiring young logicians, its future is well assured.
