I've been sleeping like a baby in 420 degree heat

aren't bedrooms usually the coldest room in the house anyway? always has been where I've lived, I guess they decide which side will be the bedroom based on the angles of the sun in summer or I've been incredibly lucky

How would that work on a terraced street where houses are symmetrical each side of the road?

Not here, our bedroom is south facing even with blackout curtains and a fan it's still not great to sleep in.
As @LuckyBenski has pointed out, we live in a terraced house. All of the largest bedrooms on our side of the street are south facing.

The UK isn’t really THAT hot climate wise on a global scale, particularly before climate change in effect. For the past couple thousand years you probably want a south facing house because 11 months out of 12 you get lots of sunlight. To suggest the UK put bedrooms north facing so to avoid 2 weeks of hot weather, is odd to say the least.

And then of course there is the terrace housing explanation above, in cities where you just build where you have to, and the layout standardised, you just build it, north, south, east or west. There is no thought to that.

If you are lucky enough to have a plot of land to build from scratch however, you would put some other aspect before the direction of the bedroom, such as if your house is in a hill over looking the local town, you are not going to have it facing the hill side but you want it facing the nice view, regardless of orientation of the sun.

There are many other methods to lower internal temperature in house building (higher ceilings, bigger windows, white paint) before worrying about where the master bedroom faces, all for 2 weeks of hot weather.

Sure, you can take it into account but it won’t be high on the list of the brief if at all.

Balls

A neighbours brother in law just came round with a petrol pole saw to help cut some hedge that i couldn't quite reach.

When he finished he put the tool down onto our artificial grass. It's only since he's left that i realised it's actually burnt the plastic in a couple of spots because of the heat of the motor etc. I don't really want to make him feel bad about it because he was doing us a favour but at the same point it's really annoying!

Luckily we have some offcuts so hopefully can patch it without it looking daft. I only laid it in April :(

Some random guys taking pictures of our houses. To be fair their story checked out and they had business numbers on one of their cars, but still. I’m in the middle of a workout and get a camera alert. I’m full of my lifting gear and am like ‘can I help you with anything?’ :p

Especially seeing as most of my road is on holiday and our cars aren’t on the drive. It looks deserted. I’m glad we’re back home from the weekend, it was asking for trouble.

I'm rage blasting music and slamming things around the house to annoy my neighbours :D

cos one of them has a big mouth but won't knock on my door and say something to my face

Absolutely gutted. Just done a 15 mile run sweating like a muppet.

Had got some curry out the freezer for tea. It was rubbish when I first made it so all the way round I’ve been thinking of getting a naan from the local Indian takeaway.

Get there and it’s shut on a Tuesday :(

Also. It shows how much I’ve changed. The wife’s away for the night and my first thought was “I’ll make the most of it and go for a nice long run”

There was a time I’d have been In the pub!

I’ve been referred to an urgent GP appointment this afternoon, quite an ominous looking mole that’s evolved quickly. Hopefully it’s nothing. Thanks to my parents who let me burn multiple times as a kid.

Watching twitch reminds me of how much greed exists in the world.

it's insane seeing people donating $ to people who are already millionaires and gifting 10-20subs.

when is enough ever enough? then I realised if they told people not to subscribe then twitch would probably cancel them right.

they could still turn off donations though, it's like throwing 10quid at bill gates in the street

anyone remember the pics back in the 90s of the guy with the PC plugged into a lamppost? he was way ahead of his time it seems.

actually it makes me wonder why no actual celebs are on twitch, do they not realise how much money a few of these streamers are making. (400k+ a month)

There are. Maybe not your average A-list actor or whatever, but plenty of musicians use Twitch. I've watched some people talk about what they're working on, show off guitars, do live collaborations etc. And I've seen some play computer games. I guess it depends what you "do", but I mostly watch Twitch for specific activities e.g. gaming or electronics.

Hope it’s ok, but I’m sure it will be fine. Anything like that caught early can be sorted out very effectively these days
