installed Call of Cthulha Dark Corners of the Earth

started it played 1 minute in game (searching some house)...was looking forward to it...

BSOD hardware malfunction. So you might think blimey i guess it was sooo demanding on my system it overheated (hence BSOD)

so why in hell do other MORE demanding games not crash my computer then?? (witcher, bf2142, stalker etc)

NOW if i want to play COC:DCOTE i face the LONG deep, dark of going through changing 100 different things on the off chance that one of the 100s of options will stop the game crashing....ohhh ****** JOY

This is why i hate pc gaming...ffs every game needs a different driver, download different patches, directx etc for it to work?

And even then you gotta PRAY to whatever GOD you believe in.. that the game you are trying to play does not conflict with anything else on your system (e.g. video codecs, audio conflicts). I mean wtf man just wtf...

Its an old bloody game...i can understand my system giving up if im trying to play Crysis but jesus this game is 2 years old :(

Its basically like playing Jenga.... the more **** you have on your system (ie more programs, games etc) then the more chance the next game you install just aint gonna work.... aaarghhhhhhh!

I was thinking about UNDERCLOCKING this crappy machine but i made the mistake of installing new nvidia drivers (174.31) and they dont have the option to overclock/underclock...

Anyone else played this game come across a similar problem?
(YES i have been to the "official" forum...about as much help as a chocolate fire-escape ohh and yes i have the unofficial patch installed)

edit: going back into hell.... trying it on 640x480 res oh yay i cant wait.....

You should be happy with your gfx card playing most.
Mine is so borked it locks up/bsod's/artifacts on anything but CoD4 ( wich works fine even playing for 12 hours straight) ,TDU and Crysis ( Never played more than 2 hours but never a problem).

Been working perfectly for me for ages on newer nvidia drivers. Game does not like AA so look at those settings first and try setting to application only.

PC gaming has its pitfalls, but I could never give it up. No matter how long it takes me to get a game working or to correct something in some way, I'll always claim PC gaming is better than console. For me, at least.

This is the reason Im slowly switching to consoles. I'll never switch completely because of the odd gem (recently The Witcher, Crysis and World in Conflict) and there will always be some game I want on PC. But the vast majority of my purchases are now on consoles.

ahhh ha!!! got it working on 800x600 res and no AA. Looks aint that great but its got SOUL man :D

This is a scary ass game lol.... only did the prologue (no crashing) and already im ****** me pants.

Gonna see if i can up it to the dizzy heights of 1024 x768. This game looks a keeper i'll say that. Got bodybags of atmosphere :)

gonna go play it in the dark... if you hear a spine-chilling scream of terror it'll be me :D

Buy a 360, then watch it get the RRD and your buggered with a long RMA or a DIY Kit (seen on Youtube) ;)

PC games advance thats why you get new Drivers and DX, I bet you would moan if there was no support.

Consoles are static, the games can be made to max the hardware better as they all have same Mobo/CPU/GPU etc but then they cant really do much outside the box with the games.

With PC gaming, i'm personally under the idea that "if you can't put an engine together, don't buy a kit car". Instead, you buy a from a dealership with a long warranty. Or you buy an old 2nd hand car and pay people lots of money to keep it working over the years.

Same thing, imo.

PC gaming will always be the best, PC gamers are the driving force of cutting edge technology, we see games at their finest quality and get to control them with the most responsive control method, consoles have their place don't get me wrong, I own a PS3 myself and I love it, but after playing COD4 on the PS3 (which is very impressive) and then straight after playing that same game on my PC with all the details settings maxed out, full AA & AF, my left hand delicately balanced over the W-A-S-D keys, my right perched on my faithful copperhead, its then I smile and realise, nothing will ever beat PC gaming...........

i concur. FPS on consoles is just wrong. but games you need to use a controler for i.e. pro evo etc, will always be just as good, if not better, on a console. damn lazy game devs and their ports

Nope, but it's the blurriest game since Pariah.. made me feel sick just watching someone else play it.

Your PC is BSOD'ing because it wants you to stop playing it! Obey the BSOD!

To be honest, this is one of the reasons I enjoy my 360 so much.

I do not want to give up my PC for gaming, so recently purchased a 3870 for things like COD 4, but had so many issues over the weekend.

The majority of my gaming will defo be on 360 from now on. Has been for the last few months. I just enjoy playing on the 360 more, sitting on bean bag. Its just more relaxing, and somehow more fun.
