Nice of him to state in the ad that the a/c doesn't work and speaker problems....

O/T

Is it easy to mod the exhaust setup/rear bumper to move the sets of twin tail pipes further apart - it's the only thing (that I am aware of at present) - which really irritates me about the M3's aesthetics.

Personally, I like tailpipes towards the far side of the rear of a car, the BMW ones (same with renaultsport clio) look a bit.... I don't know..... odd where they currently are.

It isn't possible to do with any ease, it would mean a custom built rear exhaust setup, custom rear bumper & valance and many ££££ that comes with that kind of venture :p

I think it looks great off centre as it is.

If you buy a very cheap M3 you are likely to face some very expensive bills. You might be lucky, but it's not a risk I'd take as stretching to afford a car that in today's money would be close to a £60k motor is doomed to fail from the start. Also, this is what a fresh interior looked like back in 2002...

I think I had people in the back of my car maybe for 20 journeys in its near 60K life with me.

Didn't you look at he sea of black every day and just think 'crikey, this is dull'?

There is a chap selling one on 168k for £6.5k locally that hasn't been written off.

For £6k you could pick either of these up for, it it really any more likely to throw up £2k more bills than an £8k one (which is still scraping the barrel in most people's eyes, I'm sure)?

What do you guys consider a number you need to spend on an M3 to get a good one these days? 10k? 12k?

If you want a cheap M3, it's presented tidily enough and you can afford to keep it on the road, why not?

Sure most of you want mint cars that you can lavish only the best consumables on, but what if you want a bit of a ****? For £6k can you really buy anything better, short of buying something 7esque?

If you can afford to keep an M3 on the road then you have no reason to waste your time in the sediment at the bottom of the market.

Says who?

Like I say - an £8k one isn't necessarily going to be any better and the £4-6k extra you could spend on getting a "good" one is a fair chunk of money by most people's books, and one costing that much still isn't guaranteed not to throw up big bills.

I like this way of thinking - buy as cheap as possible that isn't ****ed expecting to spend money rather than spending more on something and hoping it doesn't go wrong. :p It works better when you can work on the car yourself though...

In fact, If I had £6k to ***** on a car right now, I'd probably go and have a look at the car in the OP.

I'm sure you would. It's easy to say when you are not buying. Personally if I was spending 6k now I would definitely go and view a 6k S55 AMG.

Shock as shiney on the outside M3 at bargain price has something about it to put off every person who wasted time going to view it.

Surely your not classing the 2 cars in same leauge repair bill wise , one front or rear strut on a sl55 amg is £1000 just for the part .......and good luck getting any where near 6k for a sl55 amg , anything worth buying is at least 10 to 11 k
