My reddit post about this is doing quite well :-D Strong Karma! Such a shame the guy wasn't the burglar though.

Heh.... heh.

Giggidy.

Really?, reading the comments it gives the exact reason why Reddit is a laughing stock, if you want karma post some generic picture of a kitten, who still uses that site anyways?

What is this reddit thing you speak of? first opinion are I dont know if I like the sound of that or them! brrrr

Im proud to say my scorse of informaition on this thread was always OCUK and then a friend who i was boring the whole story too in the pub last night(cause he asked me what the highlight of my week was..is that a bit sad or a bit cool?) text me today to say it was in a the paper

I text back that he should bow down before me as I was the one to intoduce him to this news item that was now so popular on the main stream media , but he politely refused insinuating I was some kind of attention seeker who was tring to ride on the back of some cool peoples achievements

is he being unreasonable?

Read this on the day it started and followed it a bit but didn't realise it had completely blown up like this with a newspaper article et al.

Excellent stuff all, glad to see the phone was returned and a legendary thread to boot!

so is the thief actually going to get anything more than a slap on the wrists?

It's not proven who the thief is. Moley was proven to be in possession of the phone - that does not prove he stole it. His claim that he bought it off someone might be true (people who steal stuff do often sell it) and therefore constitutes reasonable doubt that he's guilty of stealing it. Without any other evidence, the police are correct in not charging him with burglary. He'd never be convicted in a fair trial. So a slap on the wrists for a minor amount of handling stolen goods is the appropriate result.

Just read the Telegraphs article!! As it was happening I'll admit to having my doubts of loltroll at times.. but enjoyed it anyway!

The epicness is sinking in now :D

Fairplay OP, grats for getting the phone back and thanks for the thread!

However didn't Moley say he bought it at a certain time but the OP had taken the first pictures of him the day before?
Even so it still doesn't mean he stole it but lied about when he 'bought' it.

This... He said he bought it on the day the police came round, but OP has pics of him the evening before, 3 hours after the phone was stolen. I smell a rat but what can you do...

What can be done has been done - his face is plastered all over the internet now. It's not the sort of fame I'd like to have!

Well you could report him for obstructing the police. But to be honest I think they've shown their outstanding level of intelligence on this one so yeah, I wouldn't expect much

LOL. Just seen that someone thinks our reference to Hovis is slang for racism.

Forum in-jokes for the win :D

LMAO!

Hahaha bloody brilliant OP. Took my ipad to the loo to have a quick browse, as you do.
Had the wife banging on the door checking I'm ok and wondering what I'd been doing for the last 50 mins!! Couldn't stop reading. Will be installing this app in the morning.

Piles for you, sir.

'Sohail' will probably become famous now and appear on next Year's Celebrity Big Brother. He'll probably win too, afterall he's got experience at living in a house with secret recording equipment.

Very amusing :)

I had similar experience with Police not paying attention to evidence after few of us getting scammed in MM one Xmas by some a-hole from Cambs. We tracked the scammer down, one of forumites even hand delivered negotiation letter to his dwellings, I later arranged for photographic material to be taken and eventually served police with perfect fraud case, practically gift wrapped with double copies, just for them to drag their feet for weeks and return with "he said he sent the goods, case is closed due to insufficient evidence, try small claims court" even though all undeniable evidence pointed to contrary. However, in the process of doing everything in their power to NOT get our money back Police forces in Cambs managed to misplace original evidence, including bank payment receipts so I had nothing to go to court with.
Eventually I had to rely on "karma" arranging resolution and with Cambs Police fully awake and on top of their duties the scammer finally received custodial sentence for a different crime.

I hate to be THAT guy and suggest playing outside the rules, but as far as the "balance to the force" goes - the proverbial "bad law is no law at all" and "it is what you make it" applies - considering in this particular case we have a speaker of northern Pakistani dialect handling stolen goods, perhaps a quick chat with an immigration officer might have the right "karmic" effect? Surely breaking into homes and stealing is not what Moley should be doing with his new life in the west?

Reddit looks like it is just used by a bunch of douchebags. Love some of the comments over there...

"Should the police really give a **** about someones stolen phone? Don't they have more important **** to be doing?".

Well yah, who the hell do the police think they are going around retrieving peoples stolen property and apprehending the thieves!! I guess in the US they have more important things to do like shooting black people. Cowboys.
