That's my view too, my recent Elite purchase went sour because (through HDMI) the screen would go Black for 3 or 4 seconds every now and then. Now have my older Elite whining away under the TV, if that dies then that's it, no more. Really hope it doesn't as I'm still interested in some upcoming games.

That's kind of ironic, if you have never had the need to complain about the hardware then you don't really know what it's been like to have to put up with it. Calling people petty who have had to upto 5 or 6 consoles break on them and still giving Microsoft a chance is a bit crap.
My points to those who bring it up in every thread time and time again. I've had one of each die.

it does seem to be the die hard PS3 owners who are the more 'mature' around here.
I've said in the past that it's actually the other way around, but I merely mentioned those 3 posters as they always have their say without being petty or resulting in stupid replies, I find the die-hard Xbox360 users are more mature than the PS3 posters who seem quite uninformed at times. It's a lot better than it used to be though.

Agreed, mis-information is a major contributor to teddy throwing. I guess my PS3 mature comment was based on those guys you named, it just seems that lately that seems to be the case.

no, its not RROD, no power, won't even turn on!, and its not the fuse or power brick, this is their 2nd one which was left legit for obvious reasons, 1st one RROD and i fixed myself which lasted awhile after that as the 3yr warrenty wasn't out then, got this one from a online retailer for £150 back in March and now its dead, so have one left.

The 360 is the worst built piece of electronics i have ever owned. Have you seen inside one? It uses the cheapest, bendiest, metal chassis ever (seen inside a £4.99 pc case? same stuff)

Thats a silly statement considering the "chassis" you are reffering to has only one use, it blocks interference. You expect them to make this out of 1inch thick steel do you? Thats going to make the console higher quality? Or is it just going to make it 1Kg heavier to give the PS3 fanboys something to moan about.

The fact is that both the PS3 and 360 are pretty equal, sure they are opposites but they both have there strengths and one should be picked over the other depending on the games you want. Also it doesnt matter if the 360 has a high failure rate, its not a lot of effort to return it to where you purchased it for a new one.

I'd personally like to turn things around somewhat; all we hear about over and over and over again is how MGS, FF and GT will make the PS3 the console of choice for 08. Why? and what guaranteed AA titles does the PS3 offer on top of this, or after these have been released? It seems somewhat that Sony have already played all their cards (heck even MGS and FF are being used in current PS3 adverts). I'd even question whether FFXIII and MGS will be anything other than timed exclusives.

The reason you hear all about these particular games is because they are huge franchises for Sony and anyone who has had a PS1/2 in the past will be intrigued to play these games. Where as most of the exclusives for the 360 are failry unknown franchises or new IP's, which I'm sure will be great but don't get the attention due to being unknown to most.

Please don't generalise, I had to drive 15 miles to exchange my 360 twice. As I'm self-employed I also lost half a days wages per trip.

Your far better commenting on the customer care you recieve from either of them, which in my experience is vastly different.

The PS3 and 360 are not opposites IMO. They both do the same thing and cater to identical markets.

It's still in warranty then. Send it back and get it replaced.
