This new found 360 reliability...

I have one thats waiting to die. I even have the box ready to send it back. It RLOD on me about 2 months ago but has since been fine. The drive has started giving me dirty disc errors and its making weird vibrating noises.

I get that quite a lot with mine but not for much longer :D .

Weirdly it was only on one track on one part of the arcade game on PGR4. I had to take the game to my other xbox to get past it. I don't know whether there is a difference in the way this pgr disc reads, spins up compared to other games but it's the loudest noise I've ever had from a drive and occasionally leaves little half centimeter marks on the disc in various spots. They wipe off but it's bloody annoying.

Strokes launch core, still sat on the carpet 1.5 metres from a wood burning stove and only every had one lock up on NFS Carbon.

I don't know what all the compaints are about :P

Pleased you havent had any problems but some have been through 6 consoles .

lol, aint bashing just telling the FACTS, lol

Yeah well, I'm rubber you are glue etc etc.

Sorry, I get carried away when people try to defend the indefensible - Microsoft selling an unacceptably shoddy product to win the next gen war to rip off the consumers, and then the very same consumers try to defend them!

You can accuse Sony of many things, but shoddy products are not one of them. When NokkonWud says that sony drives are failing he is implying that it is in the same vain as xbox reliability, which we all know is absurd. If ps3 drives are failing, it is simply down to the nature of mass-production and not inherent in it's design, nor is their support in such cases inappropriate.

If it weren't for the reliability factor I may have bought an xbox instead of ps3, but I cannot give my money to a company that would try to rip consumers off to gain a foothold in the market. If they're willing to resort to those dirty tricks then they can get stuffed. As such, I would always question the reliability of their consoles until their failure rates are far better than the competition.

No one is defending the situation, it is shocking, The only way people have put up with it is because of the amazing games and it arriving a year before the rest..

Since they've given a 3 year RROD warranty, at some considerable cost (as it should be!), they can't really be accused of ripping us off or employing dirty tricks, the PS3 would have been out much sooner if they could have actually got the BR diodes they needed..

And as mentioned, you've neglected the PS2 failed laser debacle.. and did Sony give a 3 year warranty for that? or did they rip off the consumer with shoddy goods?
