This War of Mine

I read the same. Seems you're correct.

Was a bit disappointed with the game length so I've played a few more games since then, a few suggestions since the games tells you little.

Build stuff in close proximity to each other. After a few weeks you'll be quite busy and moving around takes time.

Get an alcohol distillery/moonshine setup up and running once you have a couple of rain collectors. You get two moonshine per bottle of alcohol and the resources needed for each cycle is very small.

Building materials are essential. Especially components which you need for them water purification blocks (cooking, rainwater, moonshine). When the merchant comes to visit, buy everything he has.

Treasure your scavengers. Marek has 17 inventory slots and Boris has 19. This makes a real difference over someone with like 10 when you're bringing back building supplies. Don't lose them.

Those with less inventory slots are specialists in sneaking, combat and other stuff. Use them to steal valuable items where there skill set is suited for that area.

Building a heater when the temperature starts to drop is one of the most of the important things you will do. When I didn't, two of my group froze to death and then Boris ran off with a months worth of food. Stocking up with more firewood (up to 6) increases temperature.

I'm not so sure about taking firearms on missions to kill. There much better for defense and they're not very powerful against bandits/army in full body armor. It's more effective to sneak around with a knife and jump out of hiding spots and instakill them one by one.

Send one of your injured to the hospital with a few lockpicks. Get bandaged up and then proceed to steal all their other bandages :p

Doing this of course has a negative on your groups conscience. Those that smoke generally don't give a ****. But the same goes if you neglect them. Those that don't smoke fall into depression and break down. But your ample moonshine stock helps with this.

Really enjoyed playing. You either die a scavenger, or live long enough to see yourself become a bandit.

I finished the game with everyone alive, content and a huge stockpile of supplies by only stealing from/killing bandits. All you have to do is to scavange daily, get your production buildings up asap and trade your crafted items for basic materials at the traders.

The game's good but after the 2nd or 3rd try it becomes straight forward and lacks variety. More random events, random locations and random people would be nice, maybe in an expansion or DLC. The game went into the green 2 days after release, it's a smashing hit, they can certainly afford to improve it.

No.
In this you control a party of 3 characters by telling them where to go (mouse clicks). During the day you stay in your safehouse making improvements, sleeping, cooking etc and there is no danger.
At night you control 1 character and enter an area with the hope of looting whatever you can. You might come across various hazards or obstacles requiring different approaches. It works a lot like a 2d platformer.

In Zafehouse, the 'day' scenes have you assigning tasks to your party but you see no progress until you advance time to the 'night' scenes which are automatic resolutions and you see the results of what you have sent your party to do.

I'd say its better by a long way (and I like Zafehouse)

Cool! I'll probably pick this up, then. :)

Cheers for the info.
