Those of you with OcUK OEM 2700K Official OC Results thread!!

I've just ordered a 2700K and 4x4gb Corsair Vengeance to go on a Asus Z68 Gen3 board, anybody got any clocking tips? What should I expect and will 4 sticks of ram hold me back?

Depending how far you want to clock the CPU you might find 4x RAM sticks will hold you back stability wise!

Not on Intel, look at my results above I'm using 4x4GB.

The only way it might hold you back is that there's twice as much chance of having a dud stick (one which isn't stable at the rated speed).

I have the Vengeance memory too.

Memory does have an impact on the cpu guys, as the SB's have an IMC (integrated memory controller) - so for example - I can't keep my memory @ 1866Mhz to get a stable enough 5ghz OC. The more memory modules you use the more strain it puts on the IMC. Obviously each chip is different but theres no guarantee you'll get one that will clock high with 4 sticks of ram

What board you running? I'm hoping the Gen3 will be ok.....

Have you posted your bios settings anywhere? I'm hoping for around 4.8Ghz I think.

1866 is overclocking though, the CPU is officially rated to 1600 so it is guaranteed to work at that with full banks.

EDIT: Oh actually it looks like the memory controller is only officially rated for 1333 so maybe you are right, but I have had 2x2600K's and a 2700K and all three easily did 1600mhz with 4 banks full.

What is your overclock? OcUK don't do 16GB kits consisting of 2x 8GB and I was advised against 4x 4GB in case the 5Ghz OC was not stable.

4.8ghz I've not tried any higher, I'm not greedy. :p

ASRock Extreme4 Gen3, I posted some info above detailing voltages etc.

What cooling do you have m8? Case? Good temps

Custom water with 360mm radiator and really quiet (low rpm) fans so probably not the best water setup cooling-wise but my aim was silence.

Also, I tried 4.9ghz an hour ago and it repeatedly froze just before the Windows boot screen with a blinking cursor, I'm guessing I need CPU-PLL enabled and perhaps an increase in voltage but I won't bother.

To be honest 4.8GHz to 5.0GHz is not much difference really. Only 200MHz the difference!.

I'm sure I could get 5ghz with 1.4V or so but it's just not worth it for me, I only tried 4.9ghz out of curiosity because it had overclocked so effortlessly up to 4.8ghz.

I'm more of a silence and stability kind of guy than an extreme overclocker. :)

Fair enough m8, thanks :)

Ah, quite a few companies rebadging that thing now. :p

actually its made by coolit(eco 120 I believe), corsair, ocuk etc 'rebadge it'(in the case of corsair they put their logo on the pump and included a fan, ocuk just renamed it h2flo but didn't include any fans or any logos etc).
