What exactly do you do during the day?
Since I stopped playing games so much. I found myself completely bored during the day. Everyone else works, the house is empty.
Probably going to join a gym to wast a few hours a day.

Never worked "nights", but when I worked the "late shift" (3pm-12am), I'd go for a blat on my mountain bike during the day, so long as it wasn't chucking it down (today would be perfect!).

I'd work on the car/wash the car, study for new qualifications, even started doing a little side-work from home earning a little extra cash.

Plenty to actually do, but it all depends on what you enjoy.

I used to do 4 10 hour shifst so I was knackered used to go to the gym from 9 to 10 but sometimes I even felt myself falling asleep behind the wheel.

I used to sleep from 10 to 6 then get up and have dinner with the family.... :p

use to work 8pm - 6am. got home for 7am, had a shower, watched tv, went out for a wlak, buy a newspaper, play wow [hehe] in bed for about 12-1pm, up at 7pm and out to work.

Trick is, not to sleep when you get back, other wise you spend 4-5 hours awake before woke and then it feels a long day indeed.

ColiN

PS - also found the golf courses at 7am where empty :)

work 2 till 12 get about 6 hours kip and take dog for work first thing the rest of the day is pc time unless the missus has work for me :( will be of rabbiting when i get my new air rifle soon i find it best at dusk pfft will sleep when am dead lol

I work two nights out of eight from 6pm to 8am and because it's a 14 hour shift, European law states that I must be allowed to rest which means that you will find beds in any Fire Station (unless you live in Manchester). If it's a quiet night I get to sleep but if, as is usual, it's a busy night I go home tired. I don't have the option of sleeping during the day as I have a very active 2 year old son to look after.

On a side note, waking someone through the use of bright lights and loud noises is deemed as torture. Guess how I get awoken during the night if there's a fire somewhere. Not that I'm complaining too much, it beats staying awake. :D

Sleep from 8-1 do daily chores or if nothing to do put on film tv have dinner then go back to bed about 6-7 for another hour or two if i'm lucky. But I only do 3 or 4 in a row every 6 weeks.

I used to be able to sleep from 7am until about half 4 after a night shift, so everyone was arriving home anyway. If it was the last night and I wasn't bothering with sleep, I'd go into town. Love those empty weekdays.

Alternatively, I'd play games. Why'd you stop?

Just got bored of the current selection. Hoping that'll change in Q3.

Yes shopping on weekdays is fab. No silly annoying people around, no ques and the shelves are stocked.

When I did lot's of manual labour on night shifts, then I could easily sleep till 4pm or gone. Just don't need as much sleep when Your standing around.

I'm on nights this week, do it every 3 weeks 10 till 6.

I go to bed at 6.45 and aim to be up by about 1.30 2pm. Then I do a few chores, shop, see friends, surf the net, go jogging, used to go to the gym and starting up agian soon. And in the summer I lie in the sun too

My girlfriend gets home about 6 from her 9-5 job and she is in bed by 11. So she has 5 hours free time inc meals etc.

When I start work at 10 I've had 8 hours freetime. Not great being up all night but there's lots of benefits too

sleep - i.e. recovering from working nights, wake up a couple of hours before starting work again, work out / cook dinner etc..

working nights can easily become addictive, you need to sleep during the day otherwise your shattered at work especially if you have to be alert..Also if you work many nights its actually strange in the summer when you begin to see daylight again, i remember going into the bank during winter and it was daylight and I just thought everything was moving so fast it was so surreal lol

When I use to work nights I use to go to bed around about 10am, get up for dinner at 6pm, then go back to bed around 6.30pm and get up at 10.30pm and then drive out for work at around 11.15pm.

Repeat.

Social Life = Kaputt. Thankfully why I work days now!

Depends.. shifted work is a pain.. but normally i'll just sleep till about 3 hours before i'm due in again (get 11 hours off between shifts normally) and just do everything else on my days off... but then again my shifts are really good, I get 3-5 days off after every 3/4/5 shifts..

hmm my tuesday - Got home at 5am, fell asleep about 5:30, work up 10, moped about for 30-45mins, went to the gym, came home about 1, had lunch, moped about for about an hour, cleaned house till 5, now im just trying to retrieve stuff off my dead dell laptop :<

days are bloody boring...which is why I have a second "day" job 3 days of the week ^_^

Hi there

Not looking to derail this thread but I work Fri - Mon 1600 - 0200 quite enjoy the shift though I do find myself bored sometimes on my days off. I've joined my local gym but was also toying with the idea of getting a second job, do any of you guys doing two jobs recommend this?

When I did lot's of manual labour on night shifts, then I could easily sleep till 4pm or gone. Just don't need as much sleep when Your standing around.

I sleep soundly on night's as a rule but that's because I know what suits me best. If your having difficulty then consider staying up longer and going to bed in the afternoon or split your sleeptime into 2 halves. Try a long walk before going to bed to wind down some.

I do a day/night 5 on 5 off shift pattern. 12 hour days, 11 hour nights.

On nights i finish at 6am and go straight to bed, sleep til 11ish - have a pee, then back to bed until i wake and feel like getting up (noramlly about 2-3pmish).
Then i busy myelf washing/making may food for the night, maybe get a chance to surf/game/watch TV/Chat to my partner for a bit, then at 7pm its back to work.

So i get 5 days off, and they dont last long enough. I would never pass up my 5 days off to do over time (unless i was about to be checked out of my house) and I cant under stand people who get bored, the mind boggles. there is so much to do and no where near enough time to do it.
Maybe it because some of you dont own your own houses you get bored, dunno, there are always things to do.
