Thoughts on build.

For once, the QX120 fans in white are on offer..still expensive but at least the same fans on the aio...when i got my corsair 360mm aio I had ql120 fans, and ended up buying another 3 to replace the ones on the aio so they all matched..

The info from case page is you can fit a 360mm aio in top or side, and so would match with same fans..so depending where you put, 3 other fans at top or side. You can put 3 more under the base and the light will shine through..don't know if that's something you want to do as fairly hidden...one thing I like is having positive pressure, so on my 5000x and evo cases I have 6 intake and 3 exhaust fans(3 exhaust is then through the aio on the top)..this means air pushes out through back and all other gaps rather than negative where air drawn in with negative pressure..hopefully that keeps dust down a bit as pushed out of the case. you could get some cheap non rgb fans for under the base if you don't want to get another set of fans..nice thing also is it draws air up directly onto the gpu which will be sitting above.

cables below are for the revolt psu if you're going that route, or just stick with the non atx3.0 psu, but seeing as gpu is £1700, paying a bit more for atx3.0 may be worthwhile if it protects the gpu more (need to look if anyone really having any issues with non atx3.0 psu's). otherwise there's cablemod where you can get custom cables made any colour your want, or pattern etc. i'm assuming I'm allowed to say that as OCuk don't have a custom cable part to site, so not really competing..I'll take down if people think breaking rules

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £170.98 (includes delivery: £3.99)

I think i'll wait for those, those the cableless ones which i assume just clip into the CPU cooler you linked?

I'm wanting to make a few changes too but OCUK currently not stocking what i want.

RAM:
Corsair Dominator Titanium 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory

SSD:
Kingston Fury Renegade 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive

Mobo:
ASRock X670E Steel Legend ATX AM5 Motherboard

GPU:
Asus ROG STRIX GAMING GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB Video Card

GPU Isn't in stock any where so will settle for the zotac, Mobo is still up the the air to be honest i might just get this. "Gigabyte X670 AORUS ELITE AX (rev. 1.0) ATX AM5 Motherboard" but i really want white.

I'm set on that RAM now though, but again OCUK doesn't stock 6000hz Dominator.

I'm also waiting to hear back from them so i'll email them again see if they can manage to source these parts. (I'd rather get it all from one place)

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £3,573.85 (includes delivery: £11.98)

Damn this is stressful, changed again think this final build unless people have any objections to PSU, i will be asking OCUK if they can find 6000hz ram, but this is the system i'm thinking.

If they can find 6000hz ram which are cheaper i'll put extra money towards getting a better mobo, already £400 over budget though.

Why spend so much on RAM for a X3D CPU? They don't particularly care about memory speeds.

Currently on sale and would be just fine.

It's purely for the visuals and easily customise RGB, the 6000hz dominator are £170 but OCUK doesn't have any in stock at the moment, only 7200.

If you changed it from the Phanteks AMP v2 I suggested because you wanted ATX 3.0, then this PSU doesn't make sense, because it's almost identical innards to the Phanteks AMP v2, but you lose 150 watts, lose the bundled 12VHPWR cable and save £5.

I didn't realise the one you linked was 1000, and didn't realise the other one was 1200 which is overkill. In all honesty no idea what ATX 3.0 is.

I did change the PSU back to what you originally linked and am happy with going with the lower motherboard because i don't plan on upgrading any time soon, already getting out of hand with price though why did i want white lol.

But i'm ordering this if OCUK can source 6000hz dominator ram.

Btw overclockers should take you on for a commission based position, still waiting for reply for email from weekend, you would already have my money lol.

the atx3.0 certification was brought in as more power gpu's can have 'transcient power spike' that can cause instability in your sytem, and even cause your pc to crash. seeing as it was designed for more powerful gpu's and the 4090 is basically the most powerful you can get, is the reason I suggested it over a non atx3.0. the atx 3.0 means the psu has to be able to supply the gpu with twice it's power use for 10microseconds to combat the spikes along with other specs.
little old vid, but linus explains it quite well, and this was before they were launched. put the 1200w in there as the only white atx3.0 i could find, but nothing wrong with the 1000w one either if you're not bothered about atx3.0..def take it over the asus psu

My first build back in the day I bought everything from OCuk..they also did price promise back then. Not now though, so although I buy stuff from them, I do look elsewhere too, as they all seem to have mini sales on at different times, and my b550 build saved over £300 by shopping around...seeing as I don't own shares in OCuk, I'd rather have the £300 in my pocket.

ps, don't stress over it, this is meant to be fun

You sure you'll spend much time looking at the case? Plain black would be cheaper.
Yeah i literally save £300 for having it in black, with better components and better branded parts.

ah yeah thats interesting, i would rather the PSU built around the GPU in mind, it makes sense.

and believe it or not this is the 3rd system i've ordered over the years, sadly in my youth i was far more vigorous in my research which is probably why my system has lasted as long as it has, like i said it still performs other than loading speed.

but right now if i order everything from OCUK it is for them to build, stress check and send on, i do have a separate list to build myself which is different price obviously.

I would just like to order from one place because the more i look the more i find myself going down the same rabbit hole my rig will end up costing 4 grand and 90% of my gaming will consist of playing early 2000s games. :D

Ahh, getting OCuk to build and test it for you. gotcha, now I understand. If you dead set on the ram and they cant get it(which sure they can just buy it off a competitor worst case), you can do the same and send it to them. I know someone that's done it. Not exactly as you didn't give then a chance to get it first, but if they can't supply it, they can't moan at you, and they wont want to loose on the rest of the components they're selling you, or the fact they'll charge £200 odd for the build.

Well you can smile at yourself know that your pc is capable of playing any AAA title while you play your old games. Half Life still one of the greatest...likes the original unreal also

Yeah 100%, been a customer of ocuk a long time now but at the same time my brothers just order 3x £3,200+ PCs from a competitor which is offering me a fantastic deal, only issue is OCUK is the only other reputable dealer with white GPU in stock and not sure when the Asus strix white is back instock.

i'm really tempted just to build it myself and wait for deals though, reckon i could save £300-400 and end up with better parts and exactly what i want, but at the same time i'm not the kind of person to deal with that whole headache lol.

Weighing up the options, seen people build with similar components and it looks stupidly simple, only part i would have issue with really is thermal paste which i'm not even sure if its already on the cooler these days then the only part i would be sceptical is testing it. think places like ocuk etc run 24-48 hr stress tests.

Components really short supply though you would think dealers would work together so far no one is willing to co-operate, if ocuk is willing for me to ship them the ram they have the sale depending on build cost.

the aio will have thermal paste already applied, so wouldn't worry about that. even if you somehow muck it up, just wipe it off and reapply some more. I used noctua NT-H2, and got some mx-6 i bought in case I mucked up putting air cooler on my new rig. I bought a little spatula and spread it myself, rather than pea drop, but really not something to worry about. Worst was wiring up 9 ql120 fans in the am4 build..hadn't done rgb before, not that ammount of fans.got there in the end though..latest build used lian li uni infinity fans..similar to the icue link fans above where they go together and have 1 cable going to a hub..so much easier if doing yourself..the link fans allow you to dasy chain from 1 group to the next
Even cases now, the standoff for motherboards are already preapplied, not something on my 1st build where had to put them all in...I view a build like putting lego together..follow the instructions and pretty straightforward..just take your time a little, and have a phone/laptop or some web access to look at diagrasm of mobo/be able to look up anything you're not sure about..or just ask on here.
I never stress tested for 24hrs....plugged it all in, loaded windows, uploaded drivers etc...downloaded hwinfo and cinebench r23...did a stress test for 30mins or so, checked cpu was staying cool...got on with enjoying pc...messed around with icue to get pc to look way it is and set fans to speeds i wanted(you can adjust fan curves there etc or just use preset, quiet, balanced etc)_
If I can build a pc, anyone can

The converse used to kick the dust in the case, or attract the eye away from it:cry:. At least white case will help hide it..
Haha to be fair that's not bad going for a neglected 5 year old system, like i said it's still working solid as a rock.

(Fairly sure that CPU cooler water has dried up by now, not been changed since birth)

Just got a few questions... first does EXPO ram matter? or can i buy the Team group white and not see any difference?

Also would this motherboard be a better option?

Expo ram have extra profiles for AMD motherboards but they also have xmp profiles which works fine.

Expo and xmp are basically the same thing.

You may just have to go into the bios and set xmp profiles yourself rather than the motherboard automatically doing it on first start up.

Remember if the memory you get is not on the QVL list for your motherboard it's not guaranteed to work on that board but most memory will.
