I need a new phone. So as a guy who likes technology i decided to check out a few today in town.
Now i should point out at this point that i dont really want a contract which you get a phone with aswell as the talk time ( however it is likely i will end up having to go this way)
At the moment i have a k810i and a contract 15 quid a month sim with 300mins and 200 texts i think
( it could be 100 actually) i also get free land line calls

So any way the requirements i have for a phone are the following

Good camera with flash
Good battery
Not touchscreen

See what i really would like i have more disposible income is a iphone 4.
But i would need to pay about 30 a month and 200 quid for the phone
Thats far too much for me
And seeing as i have a ipod touch 3g ( the one with 3gs hardware)
I see little point in buying one it would make my ipod redundant and it cost 200 quid (and does 90% of what a iphone does, although only when i have wifi)

So why no touchscreen?
Because no touchscreen ive used comes anywhere near close to a iphone as every one ive ever tried has sucked
And today i tried more and none of them even came close really. tried a xperia and while it was good it still was barely good enough imo (and they are $$ anyway)

So basically now i should go into my next limitation
I love my phones camera it really is awesome and ive got some really good photos out of it in clubs, at night, and whenever really and i dont actually own a camera atm so it is my main photo taking device

Also i mainly prefer the sort of phone that has a screen and buttons below
Im not overly fond of slide phones but i would have one if it was right and the same applies to a phone with a slide out keyboard

What i find more and more (especially after today) is that all every one is doing is ripping off the iphone and doing it with three or more models that look the same and appear to have no differences at all with names that give no indication of where it might sit in their range of phones

Samsung even have a phone that looks EXACTLY LIKE a 3gs but with a huge samsung logo on it
imagine owning that " is that a iphone?" "ermmm no its actually my samsung that looks like a cheap beijing market iphone copy"

The other thing that annoys me is that theres plenty of phones out there with 1million gillion megapixel cameras and you cant take a photo most of the day seeing as theres no flash

It seems to me that apple has the phone industry by the balls and the only slightly innovative company is blackberry

So anyway are there any god phones for me or what ?
it seems like all the candybar type phones have the same software that my phone does (or old nokia software) so it just feels like a pretty version of my phone

I think Apple are actually on the back foot at the moment, there are quite a few Android phones that are at least a match for the iPhone 4 and the iPhone has only just come out where as new Android phones are just going to get better and better over the next year.

I, as quite a few here have come from an iPhone to a Android phone, my self to a HTC Desire and I honestly dont miss the iPhone at all and find the touch screen is as good as the one on my 3gs (wifes now).

Have a look and play with a HTC Desire, I think you may be pleasantly surprised, i know I was :)

The one stumbling block with the Desire maybe the camera, its not bad at all but there are better camera phones out there but for me it makes it up for every other thing it does.

Why should i expect a earful ive given my opinions and what i want for a phone not slated everyphone in the world its about what i want not want i think really

You seem to be mistaken here... HTC for example have been making phones like they do now for years before Apple brought out theirs, probably before the iPhone touch was even thought of... Also look up the HP iPaq. Released in 1990 and Apple even had the audacity to steal the prefix! :p

I agree with you about the Samsung though, it's a clone pure and simple... :(

It looks like what you need is an SE phone, unfortunately SE stopped making decent candybars a couple of years ago, turning to slide phones. :( The last decent one they released was a K850, which is only a year newer than the K800...

Wow....

Be preapred for an earful, friend...
:p

Oh i know about htc, im not merely sayong if a phobe has a touchscreen its a iphone copy
Im not that retarded
However if we look at the menu on that samsung and on sone nokias it is heavily ripped off

I may be wrong (haven't tried an iPhone 4 yet), but the iPhone's camera has always been average without a flash, and it's touchscreen. Battery life is also not great.

The best phones out there at the moment are the Desire, the iPhone 4, and the Samsung Galaxy. It may be worth you taking a look at the N900 as well...

Well it didn't seem quite that clear in your OP :p

Sell the iPod and get an iphone 4 :p

And then he can be one of those people that see your phone (I have a HD) and go "oh, you're one of those people that got a phone to say you have something different to the iPhone..."

Erm no... I got it because I liked it better... She got a shock when I then preceeded to say that it was close to 2 years old now, she thought it was new...:p

(yeah this happened yesterday...)

So what phone is this how mucb is it for just the phone?

Actually youve got me wrong too i dont buy things cos there cool i normally research my purchases actually and get the best thing i can afford

That wasn't aimed at you, just as a reply to Morba. :p

As for the phone was that at me? If so not something you'd want. It's a touchscreen for a start and is quite old now, replaced by the HTC HD2.

Well if you say a touchscreen is good then i will give it a go im not stuck in my ways or anything
But people think the xperia has a good touchscreen i dunno its ok i guess but i dunno if i could live with it though

When i said about ranges and naming though htc are mainly the ones i was in about i saw like 6 phones that all had the same layout and didnt have a clue where to start
Which are the good ones
