I'm a pc gamer and would like a new console, I already have a PS3 but I don't use it now and when I did the only game I would really play was Gran Turismo 5.

The Xbox One and PS4 don't have many games that appeal to me, but the WiiU does. I enjoy games like Mario, Zelda and Mario Kart.

So I was thinking of getting a WiiU, I would be playing by myself mainly as my friends I game with on the PC.

So is it a good time to buy a WiiU at the moment (any rumours of a price drop?) and what are people's thoughts on the WiiU? Is it a success, does it have good games, does it have longevity, are the control interfaces good enough etc?

Thanks guys

Its.....ok.

I adopted it early and enjoyed it for a few days but sadly no games were released.

Now with the imminent release of Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros things are looking up....however id say if Mario games don't interest you go for PS4! Better exclusives IMHO and a brighter future.

I'm going to buy one before I buy a PS4 I think.
I want Smash Bros and I also want Hyrule Legends (most likely) and because it can still play Wii games I'm happy!

I love my WiiU, I play most games on PC and then I have my PS4 which is getting no use at all currently and my WiiU for all the fun nintendo exclusives. I regret buying my PS4 but hopefully it'll eventually come good... no regrets with the WiiU however.

It might be worth waiting till its a bit closer to Mario Kart release to see if they do any good bundle offers.

It's a decent console with some great games. At the moment the lineup pees all over the XB1 and PS4 lineups combined, but that isn't likely to last too much longer as the 3rd party games start to roll in. However, I suspect it will be home to as many great, must have titles as either the PS4 of XB1 when this gen comes to an end, and most them exclusives. If I had to pick one console to compliment a gaming PC it would be the WiiU no questions asked.

I brought this console on release, I've hardly played it tbh. Probably a handful of great first party games on the system.

ZombiU was quite good.

It has some good games currently out and some good games currently on the way, if you don't mind only 3-4 games a year, but them being very, very good games then you should have no regrets with the Wii U.

I recently got one, along side my ps4. now, for colourful games like donkey Kong, Mario and Zelda it is fantastic and my little girl loves the Wii u gamepad tablet screen.

It's great for the exclusives, I enjoy it but somehow I do feel it's not got the greatest shelf life, but there are some excellent games up and coming like super smash bro and Mario kart for example.

And we all know the new Zelda is on it's way. It doesn't matter what's being released on any other format when that hits - it will be THE game to play. And it will be awesome.

I haven't heard any price drop rumours but it would surprise me if Ninty didn't do some sort of Mario Kart console deal at the end of next month.
Games like 3Dworlds, Lego City, Pikmin3 & Windwaker HD are the standout titles for me so far. I would certainly recommend a Wii U, lots of fun to be had !
:)

Sales wise, the console has not been doing too well since release unfortunately - but this is largely down to Nintendo's marketing issue with the console and misconceptions clouding consumers perception of what exactly the Wii U is.
The Wii U is selling with some consistency, but the numbers are still fairly low.

Mario Kart 8 is turning heads and I think the console in general will continue to do so this year. Zelda U expected to be shown off at E3 in June, Smash 4 is coming at the end of year, Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta 2 are expected sometime before end of year too.
The Wii U may not become a significant success in any form, but it will continue to stand out as a unique product more and more imo.

Even as someone who has always enjoyed Nintendo games, I was sceptical about picking up a Wii U when I did so last August, but I'm so glad that I did!. Aside my PC it's my most played system since I got it, by a long mile, and I expect it will continue to be so well into next year at least.

The OS interface is easy to use with some nice little features and miiverse is cool. eShop purchases are still tied to the console unfortunately, and it doesn't have anything like the XBL's party and voice chat systems(it's up to game devs to include voice chat in games atm), but it does have a friends system integrated with miiverse and using NNIDs(like gamertags i guess). In terms of online multiplayer there isn't much right now outside of Wii Sports Club, but Kart 8 will have 12 player online. I have been playing a bit of Tekken Tag 2 online recently and have not had any lag issues. I use netflix a lot on it too and it's solid.

3rd party support is very limited but can fill some gaps, there's not much but it's mostly high quality stuff - generally, multi-plat versions of games on Wii U are good. There's some good indie games available and there's the virtual console too... and backwards compat with all Wii games.
If you enjoy the more quirky Nintendo titles like Pikmin alongside Mario/Zelda/Kart, or if you can relate to the image in the spoiler below, then I'd say without a doubt go for it! :).

If you are still unsure, Mario kart 8 releases on May 30th and E3 takes place a couple of weeks after, so wait till around that time and the choice should be much easier - MS/Sony will have a lot to show off at E3 too.

I got one a few months ago and love it. I think it makes a great companion to pc gaming. I will probably get most cross platform AXA games on the pc, as that will tend to be the best version. The wii u is giving me unique exclusives that are very different to what I can already get on pc. Having never owned a wii, there are some classic wii games that I am now getting the chance to play as well.

Bought Lewis one for his 8th birthday on 8th September 2013. The last time it was turned on was the 8th September 2013.

This really isn't the Wii's fault though, so many good games out. Are you not interested in any? Or did you not do any research before buying?
