Thrustmaster T500 RS preview

hmmm maybe because they never lied to me and dobn't charge me until I they ship the order. You think I blow it out of proportions, lol, well the majority of customers who pre-ordered are angry as well. only a couple, like you defend them, because they were fortunate of receiving their stuff in december. good for you, but please don't be dismissive of other peoples legitimate gripes

I have been told so many different stories from fanatec that i just don't trust what they say. the whole delivery was a debacle, daily lies and now delivery is end feb - (according to last promises - knowing that chinese new years means that feb is almost a dead month, wouldn't be surprised if march doesn't become a reality). I hope you're not seriously trying to convince me that Fanatec offers quality service? for your sake i hope you never have an issue w/ your kit, because then we may hear you sing a totally different tune

your obviously a fan boy to bring nothing to the discussion about the T500RS other than flag waving about Fanatec, just because I had the audacity to cancel my Fanatec GT2 order  in favour of the Thrustmaster

I'm not dismissing anybody's gripes what I'm doing is trying to bring a slightly more balanced view than the one your painting...I think your definition of the majority and mine may differ as from reading the multiple threads where you have posted the same thing, and been pretty unpleasant towards Fanatec and Thomas, it would appear to be a hand full of people.

In terms of pre-paying for pre-orderes maybe you've never pre-ordered anything from a certain OcUK? They have followed the same practice of pre-payment and its not an unusual thing to occur.

For availability and shipping dates you should go back and re-read the post Thomas made on the 7/1. He has detailed the expected docking dates for the ships which have the wheels and other bits on them for both Europe and the US, so the Chinese new year will have no impact on those as the ships will already have sailed for the majority. It also states in that post that to allow 2 weeks for customs clearance and then you'll have transportation, warehouse and other logistics times on top before shipping occurs.

For your information I've been in contact with them directly on multiple occasions and have had responses back with a day or 2 and normally faster whenever I've raised a query or needed support.

Yes I'm obviously a Fan Boy as you put it , thats why I'll happily try the T500 RS when its released over here and has support on more than 1 game, has some drivers for the PC and maybe a shifter set so you can use the clutch on GT5...

well trying reading other forums, (the one on GT planet alone is +30pages so it's more than a few lol)

Thx but I am well aware of the 7/1 update as Fanatec decided to put that up since many were getting angry/confused on status (doubt they would have bothered posting this info if it was just a few as you put it).

btw since then Fanatec sent an email on 13/1 informing customers that december pre-orders would be shipped week 7 and 8. any new orders won't ship before Feb in EU and May in US. ;) at least try to be thorough before drawing conclusions

can you stop trolling now?

PS when i pre-order from OCUK, it's via credit card not paypal and i get a detailed order confirmation. Fanatec just debits your paypal and doesn't inform you of anything, only way i knew was paypal sent an email saying i had been debited an amount. when you pay via paypal you only get 45 days to file a claim, the delays of shipping the fanatec product are easily twice that

Trolling, yeah ok if you say so, and your right it is more than a few, you've posted then same thing on just about every forum where the word Fanatec can be found on google...so tell me who's the troll.

And yes have a look and see when week 7 & 8 actually are this year...and then compare that to the docking dates...and the 2 weeks for customs clearance.

lol you replied as i was editing, anyway can we stay on topic!

start a fanatec fan club thread/website/shrine if you want

PS i started threads on 2 forums (GT and Insidesim), so not really trolling my own threads :p

I don't think I'd want to be in a position to choose between a GT2 Fanatec or the T500,

You have what looks to be a solid wheel with what might be top notch force feedback in the T500 vs the GT2's massive configurability/cross platform/clubsport pedals but arguably not quite the same quality wheel..

I've heard Darin say the FFB strength reminded him of ECCI wheels, which is a really nice thing, and I absolutely love the Fanatec for it's ease of switching between different configurations, and I use it a lot in GT5, with 1 for Karting, 1 for Nascar/Rally and one for normal use.. And obviously that it works well on all 3 platforms.

I would say that the clubsport pedals still look a little better then the T500's, with a vibration motor on the brake pedal, as well as also being load cell etc, with 'tuning' kits already available, and despite the T500 being able to be used out of the box either way, it seems the angle isn't quite right out of the box, so you'd have to tweak your setup anyway..

I sense that comparing is going to lead to lots of discussion, and I think it's going to depend on your personal criteria as to whether a more flexible/configurable wheel is more suited over a much more dedicated but stronger FFB wheel?

It'll be interesting to see what ISR do say if they directly compare..

they said they would do full review at the end of the month. if they do i am sure they will do an update down the line when pc drivers and compatibility with other games is available

The pedal set shown there has a retail price of about £1100 so I think really BLOODY expensive is likely to be not far from the truth ;)

probably, still can dream though - but since it's based on logitech g27, i think it will be cheaper than the regular frex, but will that be enough? also maybe get the frex g wheel with clubsport pedals? all speculation/fantasy ofc

But you know you'd want the shifters, wheel and pedals so change from 2K? I'd be surprised...but as you say worth dreaming as them 6 numbers might come up one day :D

Wonder if thats why the shipping dates got pushed back to tie in with the release of the PC driver?

It's now in stock online but it £100 more than other places which are pre-ordering for feb 1st. £480 when it can be had a week or 2 later for £370 is mad

Let us know how you get on as I am genuinely interested in your feedback on the wheel. Did you not go for next day on it?

Desperate :p, out of interest Lunar are you mounting this thing to a cockpit or are you clamping it to something?

i am mounting on the gamepod; i will start with clamp, if that doesn't do then i will drill and hard mount

will let you know my general impressions, but i am no expert and can't compare to fanatec GT3/2 or g27 since i haven't got those wheels. some guys on GT planet have the other wheels as well and so probably have better insight

my status says items preparing for dispatch, so I imagine i will get delivery on Thursday, since it was too late in the day to get it dispatched in time for tomorrow.

Hope you enjoy it mate, I hope when a shifter finally comes out it will fit on the Gamepod with ease. They're having side mounted ones for the Fanatec n Logitech shifters but you've gotta get the rumble kit seat mount as well :(.

thx.

gamepod, will now have pre-drilled holes for the wheel, am sure they will figure something out when the shifter comes.
