Thunderstorms 2026

Possible thunder in Hampshire this afternoon made me look at my site of choice for live data, a few little clusters out there.

Agreed it's such a brilliant website.

I was on the M27 yesterday evening and drove through a short but biblical downpour. Thought I saw flashes of lightning in my periphery but couldn't be sure it wasn't headlights on the rain somehow while I was focused on working out where the lanes were under the surface water. No thunder to confirm it either, at least none that I could hear over the pelting the car was getting.
 
We had loads of thunder near us yesterday and Weds. Proper thunder too, went on for ages. None of this namby-pamby shrinkflation nonsense.

We also had rain, sun, sleet, hail and wind. So yeah, mother nature was very drunk and/or angry.

There was proper lightning and thunder in that area, we even had some hail!

The blitzortnung app is pretty cool, has notifications for nearby strikes etc
 
I got annihilated by the hail yesterday, thought I was clever getting out of the office early but on my walk back from the station to home I paid for it :D.

Quite a decent storm here in Rutland. Went on for a good couple of hours. At it's peak the thunder was constant

Big, yet really isolated one over Milton Keynes. Seems to have run out of steam now though.

Could do with some rain, but looks like they are all forming north of us.

Thunderstorm around Central Beds/North Herts area at around 11am. A loud rumble of thunder made me jump out of my skin while I was cleaning the interior of my car. Quite a heavy downpour and some hail followed.

Yellow warning for most of the South West including southern Wales from 15:00 to midnight for thunderstorms.
