Overall, I love the USA lightning, one of the fearsome! UK never get biggest storms than USA. I am sick of tired of newspaper, weather forecasters kept saying severe or heavy thunderstorms! Get real!

The ones I remember from growing up in the far east I remember I quite enjoyed them, my mum made us turn off the TV in case of electrical surge, and the storm is normally accompanied by a hurricane which means no school for a day or two.

This one going on at the moment barely registered as morning rain on the way to work, how on earth did it make the news?

And ooh I forgot this one - this was about 7.30 am, there was bright sunlight, then all of a sudden it was like someone was turning down a dimmer switch! :O

Was just enjoying my sleep until the loudest thunder I have ever heard starts going off like bomb blasts outside. Heavy rain followed. We had the conservatory door open and the sound of the thunderstorm was just beautiful.

Just saw a big flash and a low rumble over Rugby, must be quite far away though. Just fairly heavy rain now.

Storms just arrived at my work about half an hour ago. Now its pouring with rain and theres heavy thunder.

We had thunderstorms but they were in the distance - some 35 seconds /12km away - and couldn't see anything other than a flash of light in the sky.

In your third gif, the lightning hitting straight down - it seems to hit the floor for a good long time, does it not?
