Im on holiday in south west France, a place called Juignac. We had the mother of all thunderstorms last night. 3 hours of constant wall to wall fork lightning shooting down in all directions to the ground and sideways rain. It was both scary and unbelievable, never seen anything like it. I shot some of it on my camcorder from an upstairs window in the farmhouse we are staying at and I'll get it on up on YouTube when I get back.
When we got up this morning there was quite a bit damage in the garden - mainly part of our roof had blown off and part of a tree had fallen down and debris everywhere, so we helped our French hosts with a bit of the Dunkirk spirit and helped tidy the place up. The fella said in his 68 years he had never seen a storm like it.
Edit. The weather down here is pure sunshine in mid 40's unbelievably hot.
