It was pretty damn loud and good in North London around 2-3:30am and still had the odd few cracks and flashes at 5am when i woke up for work.

I can't remember the last time I saw so much lightning; I thought there was a rave going on my garden! There was a good deal of rumbling but no claps of thunder. Some fairly heavy rain, but it didn't last long at all.

Thunderstorms are not fun when you have a dog shaking like a leaf and wondering around the house/jumping on the bed non stop for 3+ hours.

On the plus side I'm off work this week so have just got out of bed now.

It's really strange how some dogs perceive some sounds as scary. My dog for example shakes like a leaf when it comes to man-made sounds like gunshots/fireworks but when it comes to thunder she is furiously wants to bark at it in the garden.

Anyway the storm last night was insane, never had one like that in the night for a few years and since my window was open it woke me up.

I spent most of this morning hunting down a horrific smell dog has crapped multiple times in the spare bedroom and wet herself then covered it over with a blanket to sleep on :(.

Only one of them cares about thunder the other one enjoys bouncing around in the rain catching water in her mouth.

I'm a pretty heavy sleeper but still got woke up at some early hour, by the longest and loudest rumble of thunder I have ever heard. I could hear it raining well, listened out for more thunder but didn't hear any, after a few minutes I was back to sleep. Gutted I missed out, hope there is more tonight a bit earlier.

If I head to the coast later this evening am I bound to be struck down by the almighty if I'm poterring around up on the downs with a camera?

Also ,is that rain today or a lightning lightning map?

Annoyingly yahoo is saying 80% chance of storm at midnight for my area but met map is showing small chance of rain :( who do I believe  I hope yahoo is right!

Thunderhead clouds approaching my back garden /gulp

Thing is, I'm a bit worried now - wouldn't surprise me if people die because of the storms tonight and tomorrow.
