Till rant

Walks to self service checkout with bag
"Have you brought your own bag?"
*yes*
"Please place the bag in the bagging area"
*places bag*
"THERE IS AN UNEXPECTED ITEM IN THE BAGGING AREA. PLEASE WAIT"

This. I'm afraid is why I pack after because in some stores it can take longer for them to reset than for me to pack after.

I'm getting fed up with this, people take so long at the self-service tills in supermarkets it's ridiculous, they stand there for ages ringing their items through and DON'T put them into the plastic bag immediately, they then let them pile up, pay for them, then put them in the plastic bag and it takes TWICE as long, they seem to have no sense of urgency or cognisance of the people behind them, it's all me me me I can take as long as I like is there anyone else around, ah so what I don't care, well I was at the till today and the guy next to me was piling his stuff up and he dropped his sausage roll and I didn't pick it up for him HAH.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this frustrating. It seems to typically be the elderly. I can fully accept that they're going to take significantly longer, so why not queue up at a normal till where you can take your time a bit.

Why go in - use Click and Collect!

I've been in a supermarket three times since COVID kicked off, and that was for emergency single items. Got no plans on going in one again when I can get someone else to pick and pack my shopping which I then spend 2 minutes sticking in the car.

Why go to a supermarket at all? Order online (I use Amazon Fresh) and get everything delivered a few hours later and gain some quality paper bags that double up and as ways to line pet boxes, wrap packages, line cupboard shelves etc.

Do things the smart way.

Line shelves with paper bags? Wtf? Why? You’ve got the plastic on your sofa still, don’t you?

The self checkouts in Co-Ops are the worst.

They're so oversensitive, every time you bag something it starts blaring at you because of the momentum of the item being bagged. Yes, goddamn the can of tomatoes weighed more than 400g for all of 0.02s as I placed it onto the scale. STFU.

Then they're off again when you haven't scanned something for 0.3 seconds.

Sainsburys are so much better...

I'm retired now, you can bloody well wait.

Thats the spirit!

The people of Ukraine wish to extend their sympathies. They're sorry to hear that you're suffering.

So nobody's allowed to get annoyed or irritated about anything apart from the war. All vexations must be swallowed or put on hold because of the merciless genocide in the Ukraine.

I'll remind you of that when your colleague steals the last of the milk.

:cry: i've used a few where as soon as you scan it announces please place item in bagging area - it gets rather annoying after the 10th time.

For some reason I always find Morrisons ones the worst, they obviously have much tighter tolerances setup on the scales than most other shops.

That's because they are a pile of ****, and often if you use bags on the scales , they start measuring the weight wrong and you have to ask for assistance.

If anything, the people doing this are probably saving you time..

And get my weekly shop full off stuff with rubbish use by dates, and the dregs of the fruit and veg?

No thanks.

This.

A lot of the time if you start faffing about with bags on the scales and placing items in the bags, quite often something unexpected ends up in the bagging area. I often place a bag on the scales and put a few easy items inside it, anything bulky I place to the side and do it afterwards.

And I don't care if someone is having a tantrum in the queue because its making them all of 30secs late.

Absolutely ridiculous. It happens but rarely. If it does happen call the assistant. Tell me that when you have multiple people doing this it's not better than everyone piling their stuff up and THEN putting it in their bags.

Maybe if they have loads of stuff. I wouldn't go near a self service checkout if I had loads of stuff though, as inevitably the scales will throw a **** fit at some point, negating any time saving.

Most times I try to use bags on the scales for more than a few things, it will not like it.

The people of Palestine are still waiting for their share of that western ourtage.

oh wait they got branded terrorists when they tried to fight back, Putin should build a wall around Kyiv and say it;s the same as what happened to Palestine, just a bunch of terrorists nothing to see here.

cut there power of and bomb a few hospitals every now and again to keep them docile and never let any of the people leave.

West can't say anything then because Israel does the same thing and gets a free pass

ahh sorry arab lives don't matter same as they didn't in the middle east when we were looking for terrorists and WMDs

This has pretty much never been an issue in all the 100+ orders I have placed with Fresh in the last year. or so.
