GiffGaff come it for a fair bit of criticism here, but I don't think anyone comes close for price any more. It depends how important data is to you though, I find their speeds often poor, and that's poor by 3G standards.

I wouldn't rule out a contract as long as you don't mind being tied to them. SIM only prices have gone up a lot and I don't think its necessarily always the cheaper option now.

Oh really? I didn't know that, I've always preferred pay as you go. But if a contract will be a better deal than buying the device separately and buying a separate sim then he might as well go for a contract.

I'm no expert (and in a recent thread most people disagreed with me) but just what I've observed lately. Do the maths and see what you think, find a decent contract and look at the cost over 24 months, take away what you'd pay for the handset and see how much you're then paying for calls/text/data.

Thanks for the link :)

Agreed it's only competitive for me to buy a phone then stick my sim in is because I have an old sim only one plan for £15 p/m which is now £27 iirc.

@IC3 my mate got back to me it wasn't a xiaomi and he doesn't know any details, however he did say he prefers my £44.99 Huawei y550 to hers and wishes he bought her a cheaper huawei.

His m7 contract is over and he's going payg with the m7 then buy himself huawei equivalent at that time to the g620s now having liked a mutual mates Huawei G6 for the money.
