Hi all,
Time for an upgrade,
All im looking for is mobo, cpu and ram bundle.
Max budget is £900
I have everything else ideally prefer Intel.

The kit i have at the moment that has well and truly died is as follows:
Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7
CPU: Devils Canyon Core i7 4790K CPU
RAM: TeamGroup Vulcan RED 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit

Hope that enough info ;-)

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Will be used for mainly gaming.

Hi if im honest i am not 100% sure if its in warrenty.
I got told by the IT guys that the mobo cpu socket and cpu is knackered overheated as my pump stopped working?
Sorry not a techie at all.

My gpu is.....
PowerColor Radeon RX 480 Devil 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Monitor is.......
LG 24GM77 24" TRUE 144Hz Widescreen LED Monitor - Black w Flicker FREE Technology

Im guessing 1080p

I know the gear may have a warrenty but will be looking to upgrade anyway. Depending on the gain i may get.

Thanks for your help

Gtx 1070 is 25/30 % more powerful then your 480 and will drive 100hz nicely at high .
Damn good combo value

Make £170-200 off your 480...

Worth seeing if board can be RMA to sell as a package .
Is a deal on for i7 8086k

https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/red-friday-sale-black-friday-but-early.18826587/

Current i7 K makes more sense the. 9700k 8core/8 thread personally , but then i9 9900k 8/16 will be top dog but at £££

Hi thanks would you reccomend ingetting a new gpu aswell? To go with the movo bundle?

I just went for it as it's more POWER !!!! In your budget .
And would drive that 144hz screen better. Could even upscale in game to 1440p :)

^^^^ kfa2 gtx 1070

Also, if your going to sell your i7 and ram , do it soon, before launch of 8 core i7. 6 core finally knocked 4 core i7 in price which held such a good 2nd hand price for soooo long

As ever, cheapeat option.. second hand z97 board

Had a KFA2 before but going a horrible coil whine ;-( so leaving a bit of a sour taste in my wallet.
Thanks for your suggestions i shall go and have a lookie.

Thanks Again

if you can stretch to asus/gigabyte/msi then great :) think they are going £450 deal on GTX 1080 Gigabyte but would stretch your bduget by £100 or so . worth looking resale value of rx480 . seems 580 still £250 from new

haha and damn

but yeah, worth seeing if your mobo is still in warranty, rep on here as well which helps. could generate more cash if i could be repaired as sold in a combo deal etc

How would something like this fair with the amd version you specced?

The i5 might be slightly faster for gaming at 1080p but the 8 core Ryzen bundle would be the one I would go with myself.

intel will be faster at 1080p , though 8600k isnt to much of a step up over i7 4***k , specially if its clocked to 4.7ghz .
if you are grabbing a gtx 1080 on 144hz screen, you can upscale games via ingame setting of nvidia geforce experience to increase load on GPU whilst making images a little prettier .

also, 9th gen 9700k 8/8 which looks pointless against 8700k 6/12 and i9 9900k 8/16 cores is coming out on true z390 coffeelake boards.

why i didn't really quote intel to be honest, its a good bundle, but at the price your getting half the ram and no SSD and a cooler which would be LOUD! via pump and fan

if your sticking with rx 480, gap between ryzen and intel wouldn't be as much due to it being less powerful

personally, rather get B360/I7 8700 non K and 16gb ram over 8600k :)

Yep the i7 8700 makes a lot of sense over the 8600K if he wants Intel. That i5 bundle is not that great for the money anyway.

i think i might look at getting the gpu later on in the year. so maybe i do look at amd im not against amd just never had amd always intel.
So by the sounds of it then amd could be a good call then.
Then look at getting a better gpu later on. like the 1080 ?

Buy that time, next gen will be out :)

AMD have down fell, as you can see with 7th gen, 8th gen and now 9th gen Intel's being rushed out. Intel caught with pants down !!!!

Z370 board actually had z270 Chipset in it with some tweaks , B360 boards had the actual coffeelake Chipset haha

Ok so you reccomend this bundle?
If im gunna do it might aswell push the budget out the window ;);)
