Time for something different?

Muahhaahaah!

Do not pass go, do not collect $200, proceed directly onto the road to hell :D

Well that money puts you well into late 90's C4 territory, if so inclined, with that bodyshape which is effectively the 'facelifted' version.

It'll either be an LT1, with 300BHP and 340ft.lb, or an LT4 with 330+BHP and 350ft.lb (factory under-rated, hence the +).

0-60 in about 5, 0-100 in 11 seconds, endless potential as I'm sure you're aware. Tuning bits are pig cheap and plenty of stuff availiable straight off the shelf here, as it's a Chevrolet smallblock - even so, getting stuff from the states is no hassle.

For example, a performance throttle body will set you back about 200 quid and there's millions of upgrades for 'em from ignition components all the way through to bolt on blower and turbo kits.

Either comes with 6 speed manual or 4 speed overdrive automatic, LSD as standard, 13" vented front discs, 12" vented rears (if I recall correctly), traction control, ABS, power steering, air con, climate, cruise control, power seats, power windows, power mirrors, central locking, immobiliser, cup holders, under floor storage, blah blah blah :D

These are all that generation:

and so on. Loads on there :)

Scoobs definitely sound awesome. There is nothing quite like it on the road.

Well, awesome is subjective, but the main reason they sound distinctive is because of the choice to use unequal length headers, which is a bad design decision from a performance point of view, hence why no-one else does it :)

Thanks Lashout.

Tim, the only good thing about that video is the chatter. I've had that on my scooby before when I blanked off the dumpvalve too! But the exhaust is just boring, sorry :p

Yeah, I remember hearing something about uneven manifold pipe lengths a while back and thats why they have the sound they do. I guess Subaru know that a lot of people enjoy the sound so don't bother making all of the pipes the same length.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=IguEOuPvKDs much better, and you can probably hear what your passengers saying too in an Evo.

Isn't compressor surge bad?

Skoda Fabia vRS? fun lil cars, strip it cage it and add some gas.

First time in years I have actually laughed out loud due to the forums. Worse thing is I'm in a pretty quiet office right now.

Remember the older the car, the more likely in the event of a claim of it being beyond economical repair, because the cost of repair doesn't go down that much, but the value of the car drops significantly.

Hence the insurance payout overall is likely to be much smaller for a lower value car.

Sucks really becuase at the back of your mind is the thought that as the value drops, the chances of your pride and joy being written off if somebody else drives into it increase irrespective of the money you've lavished on keeping it on the road, keeping it in the best tyres, mods here and there, etc.

Absolutely, but most of these cars aren't really worth guaranteed value or buyback policies, which tend to be quite a bit more expensive.

Not much worse than an STI in that regard though.

Lots worse from my experience, even at 27 an Evo is almost double an STi for me to insure :( Either that or as I've gotten older the STi has come down more relatively speaking.

Ok an STi is MUCH better than my WRX... lol. So seeing as theirs hardly any mechanical differences between a bugeye (02) and a blobeye (03) sti, just the looks, but a big price difference, which would you buy? Buying an 02 would leave more money for mods straight away, an 03 I'd possibly have to save a bit more money. Think it's time I advertised my car and returned it to standard!
