Sorry but I wouldn't call any of those timeless, except for Civ IV. I've tried playing most of those and other so called classics after buying them cheap and pretty much all of them show their age quite badly.

Oh yes! Though I rarely play on any but the base toolset. The sweets & toys layout is good for a laugh sometimes, but I just don't know any of the others like I do the first. That early coal run always gets me started.

I still play Super Bomberman and Tetris Attack with the g/f most days

Isn't that a bit like saying only new movies are any good?

For me at least I keep returning to those games as in the areas that count they still haven't been bettered. The freedom and story of Deus Ex, The depth of Civ 4, Alpha Centauri and the combat of Mafia etc etc.

Sure some games don't stand up as good today but if so then perhaps the game originally relied on graphics too much in the first place. On the best of the best games gameplay should always shine through

Will Diablo 2 still be played when Diablo 3 is out? I wouldn't call it timeless yet unless we return to it still.

I'd have thought so. I mean people still play Doom 1/2 even though 3 is out! Counterstrike 1.6 rather than source etc. Newer dosn't always mean better Deus Ex "2" I'm looking at you! lol.
