Times must be hard for Jackie Chan....

Well i dont recall the book saying he was there for that long.

He wasn't. Nevertheless, he is an Australian citizen (link to biog. is here).

He acquired the nickname "Jackie" while working on Australian building sites, and eventually took it as his formal name.

His original name was Chan Kong-Sang.

I understand the whole done it for a laugh argument... but it was not remotely funny

Perhaps it helps to have watched a few early Jackie Chan films (or indeed any martial arts films from the 70/80s) so I don't know if you have but the style is a pastiche of them and the fact that Mr Chan is taking the mickey out of himself and the characters makes it more amusing for me. That said if something has to be explained this far it inevitably loses some of the humour.

Jackie Chan has always been about kids and entertaining them, it's not surprising at all. He's a famous name and he has a very popular kids cartoon.

errr i doubt millions mate....

not millions lol, no way, 100K Tops thats including bonuses for ratings ect or whatever they do in the industry, its one days work, who knows he could have done it for free, they do packages and **** like that for actors don't they...., like woolworths wont have there own film crew lol, they would have hired a film crew, and sometimes the actor comes with the package, or with the director.

i thought advert was pretty good lol, gave me a smile

''Jackie is officially one of the most generous stars in the showbiz industry, surpassed only by Warren Buffett and Bill Gates.''

''The actor refuses to disclose the exact amount that is to go to charity or his net worth. The latter is estimated at about US$128 million''

Thats was about a year and a half ago, when he said hes stopped writing his will and decided his wife will write it once hes gone, and half of his money will go to charity, so i think safely say he has no money problems, Unless theres been a tragedy in the last year or so, but im sure we would have heard about it.

Jackie is awesome. Done some amazing films that some people posting here have probably never even heard of.

Saying that, even my mum knows OF Jackie Chan, and thinks he is funny etc.

I like it.

Personally I think he probably did it for two reasons.
1: As a laugh
2: It's no doubt good publicity for him and any new films he's working on.

It's a bit like that Matt Damon thing for the late show (I think it was?) in the states, and the response that had the likes of Ben Affleck, Robin Williams, Cameron Diaz etc.

Actors/Actresses can, and do sometimes take on "work" just for a laugh or fun, personally I can respect an actor/actress who doesn't take themselves too seriously and are willing to take the mickey out of their work/reputation.
