Timmeh!!!!! (disability as a source of comedy)

the reason its funny is because "YOU SHOULD NOT LAUGH AT THAT!" if it was ok to laugh at it would only be funny/weird the first time we seen it, then it would just become 'normal'

the thing with the south park is Matt and Trey make a lot of jokes about things that should be funny, because of that reason. Its controversial, so they say "f you censors and concerned parents, this is funny"

If Stephen Hawking had been killed for physical defects the whole of mankind would have been affected.

Sorry to be a pedant, but he probably wouldn't have been though, since he didn't have a family history of it, it's not regularly tested for, and only 5-10% of motor neuron disease is familial. But I take your point. :)

A lot of people think i am extremely harsh when it comes to disabilities but i honestly think that natural selection should be able to take course, how will we ever evolve/improve as a species if we keep supporting the weak and genetically incorrect offspring?

We are technologically advanced enough for our species not to need to be designed as hunters and able bodied anymore! Natural selection of the brain on the other hand is a good idea! Cull the stupid ones. But of course we are also evolved enough to understand morals, so it won't happen.

But the guy said we shouldn't support the "weak" and without assistance hawking would just starve to death.

I understand your viewpoint, but at the same time, you're having a somewhat blinkered approach. Reducing a gene pool is not necessarily a good thing, even if the effects appear negative - take sickle cell anaemia - a genetic disorder, but also a disorder that gives resistance to malaria.

It's not wrong to laugh with these people who are obviously making very humorous songs. They also insult Homosexuals by saying they'd rather be in a wheelchair than gay. I wasn't laughing at them but the words are great to the songs.

At the start I thought they looked funny but I think the video is great because it is only human nature to at first pity people who are stuck in chairs but after the initial reaction (and depending on your own insecurities) once you get past that reaction you can see they are just regular guys with a really wicked sense of humour.

Bravo I say.

It's not harsh but you have a lot in common with hitler.

:(

Why do we need to evolve? I think as humans our compassion and willingness to help others in need is what separates us from animals.

If you don't have this compassion I would then equate you to an animal.

Sorry :(

I have a disabled cousin, who has a shocking quality of life (from an outside POV), she's 22 and has the body of a 12 year old (i.e. not grown), has never walked, spoken, can't feed herself, and basically has no awareness of what's around her (from what I can tell), she hasn't done anything but been a living body. It was a complication or a mistake by the doctors at birth, can't remember. However I get very sad when I see her as I think "what a waste/shame". However, things like Timmeh - is funny, I don't know why, it's probably the shock factor, and I find it amusing if it's done for a laugh and not in a vitriolic way. Most people are intelligent enough to know that most people are generally sensitive to other people's feelings and that in spite of rather public vocal mickey taking mostly it's done with no malice.

I have to agree with Penski here. The line is drawn if it's targeted at someone.

My father died from Cancer which was quite distressing. But I still find jokes about that sort of thing funny. In-fact I heard a good one about Keili Minogue recently. Can't remember it though :(

Anything that is extreme I can usually laugh at it. I have no idea what it's like to be offended deeply about something so find it difficult to sympathise with those who do.

The flat jokes cycle around gays, rape, peadophilia, racism, disabilities, horrible sicknesses like AIDs etc. The list goes on. I'm sure if someone could hear them we would be lynched several times over.

It's always an interesting topic though to discuss comedy from terrible situations.
