Tiny dogs

i haven't read other peoples reccomendations, but my two favorite little dogs at the moment are:

i think we'll probably end up with a pomeranian and a chiwawa though - with daft names :D

And there's no point in posting pictures of puppies. They're all small and cute at 8 weeks, but most of them grow a lot bigger!

French Bulldog, dude. They're awesome. Cute puppies. Cute dogs...And possibly the only 'man' dog amongst the smaller breeds. Cheeky but not yappy and about as close to a boxer as you'll get in a small dog in terms of personality.

Cairn terrier?

I'm not sure about having a terrier around the kid, and the cairn looks a bit too much like the Westie.

They are similar. I think they have common ancestry a couple of hundred years back.

Good point about a small child. Cairn terriers do need good training and I'd think twice about mixing them with small children myself. They were bred to hunt and kill and I'd be worried about an instinctive snap. Although I'd be worried about that with any dog - all dogs are carnivorous predators with the
instincts that go with that.

Ours was fine with people, but we had to watch him with other dogs. He was a bit eager to challenge dogs that came close to him, sometimes.

Cavalier King Charles, my sister has one and she's brilliant! :) Doens't bite, loves to play, loves attention, isn't yappy at all. Just brilliant! :)

And cuteness overload!!!

Anyway, this should be a no-brainer.

Gilly, you are from Leeds aren't you??
You need a Yorkshire dog mate ;)

The only time ours bark is if someone comes up the drive or knocks at the door, then it's only for a few seconds.

I wonder if I'd get away with posting up the video of the american soldier throwing a puppy off the cliff? ;)
Either way, these fashion breeds are getting silly, I know a girl who breeds cats and she is just as twisted as the DNA of the frankensteinian quadrapeds she sells.
If you want a dog, get a dog, if you want something because it'd look nice next to the garden pond, buy a gnome. ;)

[edit]yes, i have nothing worthwhile to contribute to this thread, but this is the GD forum after all![/edit]
