Tips for a complete TF2 newbie??

Imo a great sniper is the most valuable class in TF2.

agree somewhat with first part of your post, but certainly not most valuable class nor is it in my top 5. engineer is probably the most valuable, probably why no achievements for it yet since any unbalanced tweaking to that class would have serious repercussions for the game

At the moment, Demo and Soldier are stupidly overpowered, if you team up with another demo/solider and a Medic you can seriously dominate

So what your saying is that the war has actually made it more beneficial for the soldier and the demo to be friends than ever before :p

I do agree that they are a bit overpowered at the moment and it's annoying when over half the team is either demo or soldier, they just spam explosions and obliterate everything :(

(Well that's my excuse for lack of skill on my behalf anyways)

must admit have not played game since demo/soldier update, but demo was always OP before anyway. don't even want to know now since update.

Ignore all this rubbish about tactics when playing pyro, just rush the biggest crowd of enemy you can find and listen to them squeal as you light them all up before you get killed.

Awesome fun. :D

Some spy tips to get you started :)

Hardest class (imo). Try to uncloak when people are already engaged in a fight as this is the one time that good players will rarely look behind them. Otherwise start decloaking just after they have checked behind them for a spy (or when snipers have just started scoping). Don't always try for the medic just because it is a tempting target and don't think you have to stay trying to backstab everyone and then die. Run away if the chance is gone. Timing on backstabs and the allowed angles you can check out although practice is best really. People assume when playing spy that you don't need to be so twitchy or alert - this is not true! You will miss countless backstabs if you don't concentrate.

Walk around players (or let them walk past you) on ledges/narrow paths as they'll assume that if there was a spy they'd have bumped into him. This gives easy kills.

Killing engis and sgs etc: Don't just go running in and sapping the buildings whilst trying to backstab the engi. This only works on noob engis. If the engi is camping on the sg then it helps if you have the cloak and dagger to wait for an opportune moment. If you can see the engi whilst staying out of sight of the sg then you can use the ambassador to rapidly take him down - as with snipers, don't miss on that first headshot though before the body shot. If the engi is camping somewhere with sg and tele then you can sometimes fool them by getting the tele from their base as most spies don't do that. :)

There's a big temptation with the cloak and dagger to camp and wait for the perfect moment when someone walks by. This is generally a bad idea against good players where the idea is to be unpredictable or get them when they can't do anything about it even if you are predictable. e.g. when they are shooting at someone.

There are lots of tactics for the dead ringer but I'm personally not a fan and I think you have enough to be getting on with anyway!

edit: oh and demo is also awesome and I would give tips but I can't be bothered to write more. :p
