Does anyone know any tips for downloading faster on ADSL as its **** poor download rates are annoying me.

Does anyone know the TCP/IP trick where you unblock the microsoft windows 5 (is it) max TCP/IP connections at any one time...

I am also running on a D-Link G604T Wireless router which could also do with a few tweaks, ive already done a few little enhancements but could do with any ideal tips on how to make my whole net and download process run faster,

cheers,

James.

It's 10 connections, and in the absence of more details, like what's running slow, (as already mentioned) your ISP, the results of speedtests (including the BT one), it's hard to comment.
There's nothing inherant to ADSL that makes it's download rates "**** poor".

My mate is on Demon. He's synchronised at 7.6Mbps but is getting poor download rates.

I've just done a test on ADSLguide and it's coming back with about 2Mbps.

Is this normal for the "training period"? (he went on Max about 2 weeks ago).

It's not abnormal for the training period, but it isn't abnormal for any other time either. The training period's no different from any other time, except a) it's within 10 days of the regrade and b) it's a convenient get-out clause for ISPs that need a slap.

Usual story, BT Speedtest, make sure the sync rate isn't dropping and pulling the IP Rate down et al.

Here are his router stats:

Noise margin is too low but the service doesn't seem to drop.

Blame it on Demon?

I've just done a BT Speedtest. Here are my results:

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: - provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps (UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps (DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4720 kbps

Ok so does anyone actually know the tcp/ip thing? does anyone actually know any tips for increasing the download rate?
