Tips on L4D2

Don't be sad when you die - use the time to watch how more experienced players play.
Keep up and don't run off ahead. Splitting the team into pairs is a mistake the infected won't be forgiving of.
Have fun? It's only a game. Some people take it WAY too seriously.

Stay away from pubs, play with friends and people on here. At least then you can work as a team rather than a group of people who rush and leave you to die, get killed themselves and then pass the blame to you, or at the first sign of failure quit out and ruin the game.

Well, this was supposed to be a semi-comedy thread, based on my winning of the L4D2 copy (see GD thread)

Sadly, it wasnt to be - Some scummy Middlesbrough chav saw to that on Friday night, smashed the back window of my girlfriends Mondeo and stole my mountain bike, fresh from having new parts fitted. :(

So instead, Saturday was spent buying a scrap Mondeo and removing the tailgate and other parts, passenger window, bumper bar, door, and fitting the new tailgate. Sunday was fitting the passenger door glass, cleaning out broken glass and sorting insurance claim.

So I will be on L4D2 eventually, just maybe not in a hurry. I'd gladly take a chainsaw to the little **** that took my bike though. And Id enjoy it.

Be wary of your three competitors! they will do eveything in their power to stop you getting the highest number of kills. They should be set on fire at every opportunity and some times it may be necessary for you to ignore their pleas for rescue in order to show them whos boss.

:p

Midnight, is that you?

Definately stick to your team mates. Never I repeat never always go shooting off or going back alone without telling your team mates (especially looking for ammo). Oh and voce comms definately help. I use Skype as the voice quality seems a lot better.

Knubj3 has very kindly let us use his Vent server (which is great for cross team Steve abuse :D):

It's funny how 90% of us concentrate on playing as survivor, that's exactly what I was about to do until I finished reading. I do prefer playing as survivor waaay more.

I try to save healing to the very last % unless I know I'm about to approach an event or bottleneck. Some people also find it better to heal others than themselves since you can fire while being healed, but don't do that in pub games.

Try to pull with the smoker from behind the survivors, usually best during an attack or if you have stragglers. Try to hit as many people with a charger, it makes no difference how far away you are but if you can hit them all or carry someone a long way then you're golden. Spit when people are boomed or camping in a room, but try to spit close to cover so you can hide away fast.

Jockeys = just kill yourself and hope you another infected.

I much prefer playing SI over survivor, though the challenge of playing humans does make it more interesting. My favourite SI is the spitter by far, just because its so useful, either for splitting the survivors up, causing confusion, and stalling survivors while your team respawns.

i love playing the spitter and boomer. Infected are way more fun than survivors. Ohh and stay away from frenchies, they just rage all the time when you accidentally join their games.

theres needs to be a mode where you play as SI vs survivors but stay as SI (or surv if your a freak) for the campaign.

I'd bum that mode SO much.

Problem is that everyone prefers the SI, so you would go into a lobby and everyone is Infected. And people would finish the infected spree and then leave instead of playing survivors.

thats what i mean, have a 4p lobby as only SI, and matchmake to a lobby of 4 surv's. With the SI only having an infected spree through out, fighting against 4 survs throughout.

i can see how it wouldnt work that well in terms of population, but itd be awesome as a mod or something :)

jockeys got buffed a while back and do a lot of damage, but even before then they where 1 of the best infected.

they had their moments, like wandering off noobs or if they're a bit split up and you've got a spitter to hand...

apart from that they're fairly useless (like up again a decent team)

If you've got even a remotely decent team they're great, well covered a jokey can use a survivor as bait to lure others back around corners (like smokers) but then once the rest of the team is ambushed go back much further than a smoker can take a person and cost them valuable time/distance.

aye true, but a lot of it depends on how crafty your team mates are, and how patient they are. you just never get that with pubs
