Titan Z

I've seen 7990s etc crammed into SFFs (literally can't breathe yet the owners seem not to care), I'm sure people will do the same with this.

Seems silly, when the cards will simply throttle or not boost that much at all.

The pair of new dual GPU cards are both going to be worse - and the Bitfenix Prodigy is not what I consider SFF!! Its almost mATX in size!! :p

I am talking cases like the SG05/SG06 for example.

Plus the Titan Z is $1000 more than two Geforce Titan Black cards in SLI,which will be faster, and probably overclock better.

There are SLI/Crossfire mATX motherboards and compact mATX cases too.

Well if we're talking theoretical. If AMD launch a dual GPU, there's nothing stopping Nvidia altering the design of a dual GTX 780Ti version. It wouldn't have to be the same as the Titan Z. It could be a very different animal.

Personally had enough of all these 28nm cards. Time for something other than GK110 or Hawaii GCN. Roll on 20nm..

Whatever happens the 780TI has no advantage over the 290X so i don't see why a dual GK110 would be any different.

The only difference you will see is a massive price difference, AMD tried an over priced Dual GPU once before and it failed because AMD don't have Nvidia's marketing nauce.

So anyone going for one of these ???

AMD don't have Nvidia's marketing

What really ****** me off is that i was ready to cave for a dual 780-ish card with 3-6Gb of usable VRAM if it were priced relatively reasonable. Then nVidia go and drop this in the market, somewhere.

Is there still a 790 coming?

I dont think if anyone is sure of a 790 still or not , i guess it will depends what amd's dual card is actually when its released and what price.
If theres a viable market maybe Nvidia will release a 790 thats a bit neutered compared to the titan Z

My guess is yes and at about the same price point as the old GTX 690.

NVidia know that hardly anyone will go for this Titan Z as the performance compared to two full fat Titan Blacks will be very poor, so that leaves a place in the market for a GTX 790 proper.

It would also be very bad marketing by NVidia to announce a GTX 790 before the Titan Z as no one will then buy the latter.

I hope so! I was waiting to see what the price was on the 790. If they decide not to bring one out least ill have saved myself £1500 odd lol

Don't be surprised if you see this Titan Z getting thrashed by a couple of 290Ps.

I think there will be a GTX 790 and it will be based on the Titan Z in the same way as the GTX 780 was based on the original Titan, same PCB, 3gb of vram per GPU, same cooler and so on. This will mean that NVidia does not lose money if hardly anyone buys the Titan Z.

and todays CPU's can power these monsters to 100% usage? or will we be looking at new CPUs in the future? These cards seem to get more insane each iteration lol
