Titanfall (XB1/360)

loving it to be honest. makes a nice change from COD. Sure there are issues but over time they may well get sorted. The amount of focus this game seems to have from the Dev team is a good sign.
 
I'm really enjoying it, my wife has taken over right now and she loves it even more than BF4.

I'm going to have to buy another bloody Xbox One soon the way this is going!

You might want to switch... in the second generation you need to max out the shotgun and the titan 40mm to progress to the G3.

In G3 you need to max out the completely useless, terrible, hateful titan Plasma Rifle.

To be honest, I am getting bored of it already... I got to G3 in the first few days, so perhaps I over did it - but now, being forced to use the Plasma Rifle on the Titan has killed any fun of playing with it for me - so either I stop bothering to progress, or I have to use the worst gun in the game - and get floored by any other titan. I'm not looking forward to the Generation where you have to max out the pilot sniper rifle... this game isn't built for that sort of weapon.

I think the problem for me is CoD offered you (and I'm talking CoD4 here) multiple ways to play the game... Titanfall doesn't really do that - it's all fast pace, running around, jumping gameplay, which means its easier to get bored of - especially when you're having a losing streak. I think because of the 'future' offworld settings, the maps just aren't as interesting or fun to play as real world maps either. All IMHO of course ;)

I'm still enjoying it but it is getting quite samey, it really could use some more game modes as once you've called in a Titan 100+ times and mastered the jetpack you realise that the bigger play area means the actual core gameplay whilst fun is quite loose compared to the likes of COD. I'll probably play through to G2/3 then give it a rest until some DLC hits.

On a side note, I hate the wallhack ability/burn card, getting killed by someone who can see you coming around a wall from 50m is pretty lame.
 
I agree, but I think its still to much fun right now, and works as a great other game to BF4 for me, so ill be happy to jumps between DLC times and dates between them, just hope they don't fall on the same time as each other.
 
Thanks for some honest feedback chaps, I am glad that I didn't buy xbox one just to play titanfall in the end. I suppose I have to wait and see what next COD has to offer before getting one.
 
The 40mm Cannon with the three round burst is pretty awesome, been using it in conjunction with the Multi-Target Missile System and I'm winning most battles now. A lot of people seem to leave the AI to control their Titan though which is fine if you want to jump out and capture a hardpoint but they can't hold their own against human Titans at all.

I've used auto-titan to bait other Titans, chuck in a couple of arc grenades then unleash whatever anti-titan weapon you have. As long as you have some cover it's pretty easy to take them down :)

There's a perk later that apparently improves the auto-titan aiming so I'll probably try that.

I've had to run Electric Smoke in most games as the rodeo attack rips through Titans pretty quick. It's also easy to tell when you've ejected so the rodeo attacker can just jump off/cloak, kill you and then go back to taking down your Titan.
 
Fully Enjoying it, Im not a huge singleplayer campaign player anyway so the multiplayer only was a bit of a bonus for me, never touched the BF campaign.

Just reached gen 2 , I am happy they focussed on a multiplayer game but it does indeed have some flaws. My main gripe is that there is just too much AI and not enough pilots. I think if they reduced the AI by 50% and upped it to 8v8 I think it would be more enjoyable. Problem is having potentially 16 titans on the field at once would be stupid, so perhaps a cap of 6 each team at anyone time or something.

But generally I really like it, I was impressed with how smooth the launch was, had no issues at all, no lag, nothing straight from the word go, especially from an EA title.
 
I with they would have made it 10 v 10 but you could only have 6 titans and the other 4 would have some better powers or a more powerful anti titan weapon. Obviously nobody would want to give up their titan but the huge maps just feel wasted.
 
How's the AI, Giantbomb said something like if you are killed by the AI you should give up gaming or some such compliment ;)

Do people target them for easy kills?

Could have just made it like cod where you could only call in your air strike once the one that was taking place was over. so limit it to 6 titans or whatever and if you have yours waiting then you just have to wait for one to blow. maps are to big for 6x6. apart from that its great.
 
Ive been killed by the AI a few times when you mid fire fight and the AI finish you off effectivly kill stealing from their own team.

Im not sure if i should feel bad for me for being killed by a Casual level bot or sad for the guy who had me and the bot stole his kill.

I also seem to get stood on by titans who have no idea im beheind them when they dash backwards.

Ive been killed once or twice by them, but they are generally awful.

Although saying that, I was riding on a zipline and one managed to headshot me as I was ziplining across the map, it was a bit of WTF moment.
