TMobile

Wow that's good to know. A few had said that Orange data speeds are abysmal. So is it easy enough to just tell the phone to use TMobile instead of TMobile Orange?

Recently moved from Vodafone to Virgin, who use T-Mobile.

Data speed is, measured via Speedtest, usually a bit slower but in normal use I don't notice. What I do notice, though, is how massively better the network coverage is. Great stuff.

Mine when i tested it: (can't say whether that was tmobile or tmobile orange though) Performance has been pretty good for me between work and home over the last 2 months.

3.46Mb down
2.61Mb up

My wireless was

5.67Mb down
1.19Mb up

My speeds are great since EE:

46ms 6.6Mbps/2.31 up just now:

I guess it depends on what your phone says. Some areas have "lost" the T-Mobile, Orange and T-Mobile Orange identifiers and are replaced with EE so it is not possible to tell what you are on.

My area is still the old style.

Mine right now...

Almost always very good speeds in the evening when I am at home.. which is when I'm on wifi.

When you have poor speeds again, try a manual network selection. Even if EE is the only one that comes up, select it as it MAY put you back on a T-Mobile cell given that this is your default network.... Worth a shot.

In central Manchester last weekend my tmobile/ee went from 6mbps to 0.02mbps unusable almost randomly. Always been slower when using orange but never this crap and now you can't tell when it roams... Nexus 4 and giffgaff coming soon me thinks lol

I find T-mobile unreliable for mobile data, and customer service shocking.

After an initial complaint I was getting great speeds from T-mobile. Then they introduced the signal share with Orange. Everytime I was connected to Orange my download speed was just 1Mbps or less.

The problem was that even in areas where before i'd been on T-mobile and enjoyed great speeds, the phone kept connecting to Orange instead.

Now that the network is EE things are even worse.

My phone states "no service" even though there clearly is. Download speeds are about half of what they were previously and are wildly inconsistent. Right now I'm getting 2Mbps. About 10 mins ago I struggled to get 1Mbps, and this is in an area rated by them as strong signal for mobile broadband.

Before the switch over on T-mobile I would get over 4Mbps in the same location.

I'd say that they are best avoided, but like anything do your research.

I've just left t-mobile because the 3 contracts are much better.

To be honest, I never had any real problems with them (other than only getting ridiculously slow 2g at work and home). Their customer service has always been ok for me. I think all mobile cs' are rubbish so I think it's a bit of a moot point.

I've just renewed again today actually. generally happy with them, although I do get a 50% for life discount as I am on a staff plan.

300mins, 300txt, unlimited data: £5 a month (30 day rolling)

Can't say fairer than that really

To be honest, I'd scratched 3 off my consideration list because everyone was telling me they were rubbish, but if you guys are saying they're good and provide reliable data, then I'll rethink. I might just have to spend something up front and not get it from MPD, as they only offer Vodafone and Tmobile plans.

Everyone says this about every network. Best bet is to get a pay as you go sim and try it out for yourself.

Currently wondering if it may just be better to get a giffgaff or similar sim only deal and buy the phone outright? That way I'm not tied to TMobile, or 3 if I decide they're crap.

I was in a busy city centre today so I thought I would try it. I normally get 2 bars of signal at home but I had a full 5 today :)

13.14Mb Down
2.44Mb Up

Who needs 4G :p

Nice!

Think I'm just going to buy the phone outright and go three 1 month plan. Tempted to get the £6.90 plan, then get the £3 all you can eat data addon.
