My dad is a plumber and has one of those piping roof racks on his van

For those that dont know. Now someone has opened it a few times and tried to take the pipe from within, its not very often theres any in there but its very annoying to find it has been opened!

Now my dad isnt overally bothered as its empty 99% of time but I on the other hand want to catch them!

What can I do, im thinking something to put on it or when they open it. Anti vandal paint is an idea or something inside that pops out?

Got to be easy to do so nothing to clever.

Get one of those small keychain cams, and put it on the dash facing towards the door. Then wait and see, I don't know how long they record for but it could work?

Connect the copper pipe inside to a high voltage source and ground the body of the van?

Don't though, seriously. :p

I have had a few thoughts.

A small piece of pipe covered in dog ****
Attatch the opposite end of pipe to the front of the rack so it takes some force to pull out (theres a thorn bush right behind van) SNAP falls backwards.

rig up a small length of pipe to a rape alarm,, so the alarm is attached to the pipe, and the pin gets pulled out when removed and wait.
