Let nature or a cat take is course.
Smash it's head with a brick, quick and painless if you don't wuss about and do it properly, best put it out of it's misery.
Wrap it up and give it to a female co-worker.
You can't interfere with pre-warp civilisations. Leave it be.
What ? That makes no sense'but close to dying' would have been better

If it's dying (and I was sure), I'd like to say a quick pain free death. But I know I couldn't do it.
Leave it.
if you do this hope some nosey neighbour doesnt have his video camera our or you will probably end up arrested and sharing a cell with bubbaStamp on its head, or hit it with a brick, or whatever.
if there are physical injuries you should take it to the rspca or somewhere.
this. my mums cat ocasionly caught birds they would apear dead but if you got the cat away from them and left them be they would be gone within the hour.
probably just frozen with fear . i suspect your bird has just stunned itself. if there are no physical injurys leave it be and bury it in a shoe box if it dies.
