To Lower or Not To Lower?

So...should I get the front lowered a bit? I've been offered some 30mm lowering springs.

Can anyone handy in photoshop lower it for me, so I can see what it'd look like?

does look pretty high on the front vs the back - i would be hesitant to get lowing springs on just one - surely it'll mess up the handeling? does it pretty much level out when you sit your fat ass in there ;)

I'm pretty sure the back is lowered anyway. Its a rear torsion beam setup, so you can't really mess up the handling by putting lowering springs on just the front :)
 
Looks like your rear springs/shocks are knackered, it shouldn't be sitting like that.

Get a coilover/shock+spring kit to get it sitting like the back on both the back and the front.

i recon you should drop the back actually - go against the grain and all that :D

It does look like the back has been taken down 10-20mm or so, perhaps the previous owner lowered it and put the standard springs back on to sell, but didn't bother to get the bar re-adjusted at the back.

What make are the front springs you've got? You could just stick them on to get it looking right, but it won't handle right until you've got uprated dampers to damp the stiffer lowering springs.
 
Although it does look as if your torsion beam is a little buggered ;)

If the wheels are at a severe camber i.e. \ / then its screwed, if not its been lowered :D (as you're probably already aware)

Those GTi beams are re-nowned for sinking when they are worn

Yep, I know its on its way out, i'm saving up for a new one..

Although the camber on the rear wheels is fine, they're dead straight :)

they'll still hold their own against a lot of recent "hot" hatches tbh - just cause somethings old doesn't mean its rubish

behind the wheel of one? sure - they are fantastic fun.
behind one in traffic? what difference does that make ?
