I'm a PC gamer, I've had a 360 in my gaming arsenal for years with a HUGE library of games (triple figures) and I turn to it from time to time to get my console fix.

However, it's dated, PC games truly spoil me, for example I bought GTA V and the fps just doesn't cut the mustard for me. Whilst I recognise the amazing feat R* did getting the level of detail they wanted from such an old system. I will wait for PC to play it properly.

Anyway, the 360 has not been used in a good few months, I've been looking at the PS4. This is off the basis of me just ordering a new phone which has the playstation app thing in it (Sony Xperia Z3 Compact). It sparked my question again.

Should I get a PS4? Is it still the leading console? Are we expecting some good exclusive titles? Is it backwards capable?

Convince me :)

Huh, so, is it worth getting it for future proofing.

The only games that might appeal to me at the moment are The Last of Us, which I bought for the PS3 when I borrowed my mates but never played it. And the new Infamous. Also maybe the new kill zone.

Aaaaand maybe FF A realm reborn.

Definitely recommend Infamous, the graphics really show off the PS4's power (relative to last gen consoles).

Last Of Us is also great, amazing story.

DriveClub will be out within a month, which (if the videos are anything to go by) should be one of the best looking games to come out for console.

YOLO mate, go impulse buy one before the world ends

I've been hovering over buying a PS4 for ages, hesitant because tbh the games are just not quite there yet. I sat out buying a Wii U till the games came along (Pikmin did it for me), I'll be doing the same with a PS4 and picking my moment - the point where there's something completely irresistible out.

Driveclub could send me over the edge.

I don't think Infamous is all that, just a pretty platformer, I think all the games been released so far are nothing ground breaking and truly worth getting the console for yet. Infamous Second Son is good but not a classic. The Last of Us Remastered is worth getting the console for if you haven't played it (why I got a PS4, even though I got it with the Destiny bundle).

Is it worth getting it for future proofing? Well, of course, since they are going to stop making games for the PS3 eventually, people are going to move to the newer platform. The market is still in a transition phase at the moment, even Destiny is cross gen, a lot of games at the moment are still cross gen. Which kind of sucks because you know they had to make it compatible with the lowest common denominator so the fastest machine will not be at its potential.

I decide to pick one up now because I want GTA in November, want a White PS4 and I don't want to get into the hassle of trying to source one near Christmas. You just know it'll be crazy again. If you look around you can still get some deals. Bundles for £330 so if you sell the game you can get a PS4 for £300 or less. That's less than a new PS2 back in the day.

I have both.

The PS4 was worth getting just for 'The Last Of Us'. Though i am worried now that i might not touch it. trying to make my self buy Destiny for the PS4 just so it has some use.

Xbox One has Fifa 15 and Horizon 2 around the corner so the Xbox will be getting used.

Xbox is the better looking console.
I have to admit after using the PS4, i much prefer the DS4 controller over Xbox controller.
I don't like either of the consoles OS, both too complicated for me to even bother finding my way around them.
Xbox gets used a lot more for Netflix/streaming etc

At the moment, if i had to get rid of one it would be the PS4. (i won't be getting rid of either though :p)

Snap (well, not the massive game collection, I have ten at most now after getting trade-in happy lol). If I did have to choose a next gen console, it would be the PS4 as I just think it is the better machine. How I feel at the moment is that there is nothing that makes me want to take the plunge and get either console now. My PC is due an upgrade and I think I will get far more value for my money doing that at this moment in time. It's a shame though, I still remember being excited by console releases. N64, Dreamcast etc.

The cheapest I could find was Zavvi, with a 500GB PS4 (not sure on what model's there are in terms of storage) for £320. Which wasn't bad.

You can get destiny bundle for £330 I think, sell the game for £25 if you don't like it.

I don't think the PS4 or next gen has truly arrived until an exclusive such as metal gear comes out.

I bought one in March and have had a great time with it with plenty of games to keep me occupied. I hadn't originally intended to get one until about now, but the price was right and the 'new gadget' itch was there so I went for it.

If you're going to get a decent amount of use from it based on what's already been released and what's coming up, go for it. Just don't become one of those people who buys one then moans on here that there's nothing to play on it despite knowing what the release schedule would be.

I wouldn't bother.

You'll only buy one and sit there thinking, I can play this on my PC and the graphics are rubbish then you'll either leave it sitting in the corner gathering dust or sell it.

I have both too and its strange as i prefer the xbox looks as well and i quite enjoy the Kinect as well for saving clips and stuff its a lot quicker than the ps4 share button.

Plus i rather use the xbox controller than the ps4 one for fifa and such and with ea access for the xbone i have a lot more games on it than the ps4 but its all swings and roundabouts prob use both just as much.

If i had to pick one i still would pick the ps4 as it does look better in games and it installs and loads quicker.

Hmmmm...

I guess, possible that the prices might drop after Christmas... Who knows.

Hmmmm, I could certainly do with replacing some parts in my PC. Namely getting a 500GB SSD for my games, I'm also noticing stuttering so some component might be failing... But with 8GB ram and a 780 GTX, 4Ghz i5... It's a fairly beefy rig as it is.

Bugger. This is a hard choice.

If you are having doubts now then you will have doubts after too, regardless of how much you play on the PS4 everytime you play on your PC you will still be thinking I could have bought an SSD instead. So I would say no don't get one yet, get one when you think I want one and I want to play this game or that game. Also the longer you wait then it is only going to get cheaper so another added benefit :)

The factor is will you miss 350 quid or not? I spent near 1000 on both consoles last week in all as i knew i wanted both but i still use my pc at the weekends to play dayz etc but happy i got both still as its a big step up from my xbox 360 and ps3!

Just remember if you intend on selling your old ones they aren't worth nothing now i sold my 360 with 70 games for 80 quid to a mate in work so worth a thought.
