To report or not to report ?

Whether or not kids are involved directly, indirectly someone always gets hurt and usually it's an innocent person, whether it be financially hurt or worse.

Not all dealers sell to kids/teenagers though, in fact, none of the ones I have encountered in the past did. I know, dealers with ethics, who'da thunk?

I agree, undoubtedly there are dealers with ethics, specifically those middle class enough only to deal weed and only to those responsible enough to use it. However for every nice dealer there are plenty less scrupulous ones. I guess which kind you buy from depends on your background. If you are responsible, educated and such you will be fine most of the time. But unfortunately there are plenty in this country who come from less well off backgrounds, and are therefore more vulnerable to the predatory dealers - who ruin communities.

If one of these types moved into my street and I was certain of his crime, I would have no problem reporting him. It would be my civic duty to do so.

haha everyone is still labelling the bloke a dealer without any shread of proof.

what we have .

neighbour suspects he deals
neighbour thinks hes claiming benefits while is fit and well (no proof shown)

all ifs and maybe but as usual on here the csi experts and broken the case :p

That why you report them, so the proper authorities can investigate to see if there's any basis to the accusations.

so you have no proof of accusations so you ring the police. ?

why would u report someone with no evidence to cause them inconvience?

sounds like a grudge to me.

If I knew for certain that there was a drug dealing benefit fraudster on my street, I'd report him. I can't see why a reasonable person with thought to the wider community would not. Even it its just a bit off weed we have enough trouble with drunken thugs without the need for a bunch of stoned layabout children who can't see past their joint. Anyway, benefit fraud should be enough to want to report him.

It's sort of like somebody too stupid to lock their car doors and getting robbed every other day. You can arrest 100 thieves but your car is still going to be robbed until you start locking the doors. If the government is too stupid to lock their doors so to speak, fair play to anyone who makes the most of it.

I wish more people would do benefits fraud until the stupid system collapses.

He has suspicions and that's all he needs. It's his job to give intelligence to the police and it's the police's job to get the evidence.

If I think something is wrong with my car, I don't write a report to why I think that. I take it to a mechanic and let them discover if there is indeed anything wrong with my car or if I'm mistaken.

Or people could be honest and not steal from the car?

What a very selfish and narrow-minded comment.

Bingo!

If he is straight he won't have a problem, crooked then he gets what he deserves.

Taking drug dealing out the occasion, benefit thieves and job dodgers are one of the reasons we fork out so much money for everything we do.

There was a thread yesterday(?) about paying so much for fuel, which then mentioned road tax etc - this is so high because it's a good taxable medium...
Which in turn "fixes roads" but eventually feeds people on the brew.

Less people on the giro = Less Tax... Though it may not always be that simple.

Quoted for truth.

Which should have been obvious tbh.

I don't like the way Burnsy2023 looks at children. Maybe he is a pedophile, we better ring the police and let them investigate his computer to see if there is any basis to the accusations. If he's done nothing wrong he'll be fine.

Burnsy2023 IS the police.. ;)

I'd report him without a second thought

Me too, without a second thought.

I would report people for no car insurance, no road tax (since it invalidates your insurance), anything like that.

Claiming money your not entitled to is a low low crime, that could go to someone who genuinely needs it or reduce the costs to those working which will in a high percentage of cases improve the life of those people (treat kids better, go on holiday to destress etc)

"The only thing required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing." ... a bit trite but it pretty much hits the nail on the head.

Too many people turning a blind eye and trying to justify it by calling others names.

I want to live in a decent society where we feel safe because we all live by similar rules, not some place where people think that it is ok to commit crime (petty or otherwise) as long as it doesn't directly affect their cosy little existence.

None of us are saints and we all think some laws are wrong/poor but if we ignore the people who vandalise, commit small fraud or just sell a bit of weed etc, we eventually end up with the sort of society that is either a police state or run by smart arse little gangsters who think that they can get away with almost anything.

Stand up and be counted, if you want to live in a decent world.

Meldrew.

Personally I would never report anyone unless if affected me in some big way and I could do nothing about it. Reporting someone for drug dealing will never work, there's always plenty of people ready to take their place. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't.
