Also, get a belt. Trousers without a belt (braces notwithstanding) look silly.

You seem to pull it off very well - had I not seen the pictures I'd have said no. You might try smiling though.

If anyone does comment on it though, never be negative about it. If you're going to wear it then don't apologise for it.

yes, just do not wear a belt with it. that would be incorrect for a true gentleman. unless you in westlife or boyzone -

waistcoat = braces.
belt = no waistcoat.

Waistcoats are brilliant, but every time I wear one into work, everybody asks me why I'm all dressed up, and do I have an interview or something. I tend not to bother these days except for smart-casual wear.

Mushroomsoup is correct. Though, if you feel you need to wear a belt make sure it matches the colour of the shoe and is simple.

I just bought a nice doeskin waistcoat - looks great under my tweed jackets.

I like the English gent look though, there are too many adults slouching around in sportswear more befitting teenagers, so dressing well makes you stand out as someone of real style and panache.
