I'm currently in my hospital bed waiting to go down to surgery to have my gall bladder removed. I've got to 46 years old without ever having to visit a hospital for anything more than a sprained ankle! Now i'm about to go under a general anaesthetic and frankly, i'm bricking it, i've always dreaded this day coming, having no control of my immediate destiny. I'm sure everything is going to be fine but it's the fear of the unknown! Hopefully i'll be back in a few hours saying I had nothing to worry about :)

Count to 1 or 2 if you are 'well 'ard ' then you will wake up.

Easy peasy.

Just hope they remove the bladder and not your balls.

It's like going to sleep - easy as pie. I've been under several times now, and it's really nothing to worry about.

Annoyingly I may be having the same op as you, depending on what my GP says - though let's not turn this into a medical question jobby!

I've been under loads of times. You'll be absolutely fine mate. I'll wish you best of luck anyway, but you won't need it. It's fine and routine now.

Been under myself... For me, the waking up was the worst as I immediately wanted to get up and start kind of fighting for the first few seconds and threw my arms out until my brain kicked in and the nurse spoke to me to bring me back down (fight or flight response I guess)

Not that much would have happened as I was still very under the influence of the drugs at that point... My mind was like "fight!!!" but my body was like "you're on your own" :o

Good luck and all that jazz.

Dibs on your stuff, just in case.

@wez130 I know how you feel, matey. When I had my shoulder done, I was utterly terrified when I went down for surgery. I'm sure it'll all be OK and that slice of toast with jam they give you after you've woken up will be the best meal ever!
