Ok, now the generic GBACADE is done, it is onto the dedicated OutRun cab.
Similar thing but the controls need to be custom.
So I have started with the gear selector. On the GBA you use one of the sholder buttons to toggle between hi/low gear.
Easy I thought, I will use a 2 pole switch you flick up or down and you toggle the gears. It works - but if you flip too fast the GBA does not detect the switch!
So I took the switch and hacked it so the mechanism now pushes on 2 membrane tact switches. These are slow and the GBA now detects the gear changes.
Next up is the steering wheel. I pulled one from a 1/10th scare RC car - perfect size!

Because this is a driving game, I have to make little foot pedals, gear shifts and a steering wheel, Bit more complicated that the other cab.

Too much work involved really.
I am just doing this for the lols, and to use up all the GBASP's I got off eBay while doing the 1st.
When the latest OutRun cab is done, that is it, on to something else

Plays well, just needs the batteries added, power switch and back/top on.
Have to wait until I get hold of a GBA rom writer, as I want to have outrun on the cart locked inside.
Ordered one from China, 20 odd days.

Amazing.
Also saw some of your Bigtraks in a shop yesterday, great to see them on sale after only seeing them a couple of weeks back when meeting you at Toy Fair.
Top job mate and very inspiring. We can't all have your talent but to see you making good doing something you love is greatly encouraging to all of us with dreams.
