Today's mass shooting in the US

When they said 'rifle' I assumed it was someone just taking single shots at people. Nobody needs a weapon that shoots like that unless they're in the military. It's shocking that things like that are legal over there.
I suppose the answer will be 'if only the people in the parade had bigger guns...'

They should just make it mandatory to have at least a pistol on you at all times.

If they properly committed it would end all this spree shooting crap

What I find strange is the mentality of the people committing these acts, it's like there's some strange civil terrorism, it isn't normal for people to randomly go out shooting their fellow citizens

Its like a cult though isnt it just constant copycats with mental health issues who believe doing the same thing they get some notoriety

Seem to forgot about school shooting rather quick so no doubt this will blow over in days, until the cycle repeats itself.

I understand the issues with guns, but in the UK we've had people use bombs, guns, machetes, etc; but it doesn't seem to happen as much and it was nearly always linked to Islamic terrorism.

There is no suppose, that /is/ what members of the GOP/far right Republicans are wanting. The exact quote from one of them was "good guys with guns" when asked on how they would stop the bad guys with guns.

Like yeah, don't the good guys already have guns? Apparently it's part of your rights to bear arms ... So why are people still being shot up then!

I think a lot of Americans believe in the right to bear arms, not just the "far right" Republicans, a lot of Democrats and regular people do as well. That's why they have so many guns.

Oh for sure, my post was pointing out that the far right side are saying the only way to stop bad guys with guns is to have good guys with guns, which they already have, and it's clearly not working how they are putting it out to be. This is their exact wording from mere weeks ago since that school shooting.

How are they far-right?

Secondly, good guys with guns do stop shootings, some times it's a police officer, some time it's an armed civilian, but they can't be everywhere at once. Why do we have crime when police exists... etc.

Many of these mass shootings happen at schools. Why? Because you've got defenceless kids, choke-points with bad exits and importantly: they are gun free zones. No good guy with a gun there to stop them. Why don't they try it at at a firearms event? Because they know full well there's plenty of armed law-abiding citizens who will kill them almost immediately.

Because those Republican members are far right based on everything they have been publicly saying and given the fact that a number of them have in recent times attended white supremacy rallies and other such stuff. It only takes a minute to youtube some of the well known names to see this for yourself.

So the solution you are saying then is to put even more guns out on the street? That doesn't inspire public safety really does it.

Gun control is what helps reduce gun violence, not more guns on patrol. Other countries have done it before. Sure a few incidents happen, but they are just that, few and far between rather than every other week a new mass shooting which is what is happening now.

Specify names then, at the moment you are tarring with very broad brush with "GOP/far right Republicans".
