Tokyo Olympics 2020

Big old accident with the skis failure for the aussies, they've just gone out again and finished 5th so GB into the medal races at least, although we'll be up against Denmark and don't fancy our chances. Italy Denmark final should be good. Ganna had loads left in the tank.

The bikes and the kit being used is highly specialised for all the nations, whether it helps us win more I don't know!

Just watch Charlotte Worthington a few mins ago, that 2nd run was inspirational, amazing flips, ain't no cherry pickers anymore :D

More funding is needed for the Women's BMX Olympic team. The government should hang their heads in shame after deciding to only support the men's BMX team. :o

Yeah, absolutely amazing. Way way more impressive than the Americans run. I know that outside of her big tricks she didn't do as much as the american but damn, her first two tricks were amazing. The commentators were talking about it as if she should just settle for silver or bronze due to the other girls score and she went for it. 110% deserved. I don't want to see people execute a safe routing well, I want them to push the boundaries.

After looking at some images, I think it was a failure of the monocoque carbon fibre handlebar.
possibly - the removable rhomboid cover plate that remains might suggest the carbon fibre had an an internal metal insert for strength, too,
the cad diagrams on the bastion link suggest hybrid structure .... need a higher res close-up
it's a really clean break too, for, what I thought would happen if a carbon frame snapped - no shards/fibres.

No medals for our 16 year old gymnasts, Jessica and Jennifer Gadirova in the women's individual floor routines, but talk about seeing double! :D

Great performances from them both, hopefully many years of success for them both to come!

Just watching the 400m and being a cyclist and seeing the guy from Bahamas running round in a massively oversized t shirt thinking of the wasted energy pushing through the air as he runs round, and then on to the discus where the difference in body shape through the throwers is mad!

Either way landing on your nose is going to hurt!

Gold in the eventing confirmed!

Where on earth is it? Other than a short clip it doesn't appear to be on the BBC at all not even red button. Appalling coverage you're lucky if you get 5 minutes of footage followed by 20 minutes of pundits waffling in the studio, its the olympics not a bloody football match! Seems you need to subscribe to discovery to be able to see anything

I mean this in the nicest way as I found it charming, but some people spent years wondering if this guy was gay or not

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-58047795

I remember interviews from years ago before he came out they would say things like I bet the girls are after you and you could see him internally sighing or thinking oh god not this again, it was kind of obvious he wasn't on board with the programme so to speak its funny in retrospect.

I just watched this on German TV, and even with the usual home bias the commentors were going absolutely nuts watching her performance. You just love to see it.

I watched it live it was amazing but the flip she pulled off is the same one she crashed with in the previous and like before she hit the top of the ramp with the back wheel but this time managed to hang on despite coming close to wiping out, the rival american failed in her second attempt it goes to show how fine the line between gold and silver can be the flip of a coin which way it would go.

Rowing needs to do one, if any sport has the money and financial backing independently from Rich daddy sport its rowing. At the level we are talking its elitist in the UK same a top level tennis run by toffs for toffs.
Well done the BMX team, Looking forward to the Velodrome now, best bit of the Olympics for me :)
The programme on TV last night about the olympic road to victory the girl who was in the rowing had never done any rowing before in her life she answered an advert in the local paper or online and went before a selection committee who basically decide who might be suitable for the programme they picked her but decided to put her in the rowing team - despite never having done any rowing before then they get put on an intensive regime of training and discipline... its basically a govt backed factory system where they take in raw materials and churn out a medal hopefull at the end of it she didn't even get any choice as to which discipline.

The guy behind it a german guy was both admired and loathed by people for his rigorous regime of weeding people out who didn't come up to scratch and this olympics he was supposed to retire but they ditched him a year or two ago now the team is all about everyone has a voice they're all special snow.flakes now... with all too predictable results to match theres a lot of talking behind the scenes about the debacle. Its all in an article in the guardian somewhere which I can't find right now...

Yeah they do actually, lol. Very sweet girls, I hope they go on to do well.

I love their voices like two little mice lol.
