Tokyo Olympics 2020

gymnastics - BBC uneven bars ? is that a dumbing down of asymmetric bars

bbc interview with Zharnel Hughes https://twitter.com/BBCSport/status/1421821755174395910
thought he handled it well , and was honest/humble; Barsham and Tamberli interviews, came over well too - personable
stark contrast to both Biles and Smith interviews where they come over as petulant/insincere.

- Enthusisam of youth - Charlotte - the best.

We are 4th in total medals, not bad for a tiny country

looks like the Ireland of Ireland dont really do sports with 3 medals, and 2 of those are Bronze

Yes, insane ride from the Germans that one.

Track cycling has TEAM GB to thank for making so awesome over the past 15 years :)

Decent ride from GB though - could be close to the Germans with some better scheduling.

Either that or just leave Katie Archibald on the front the whole time. Looks like she could win this thing doing an individual pursuit!

Hahaha yes, she is a machine :)

I bloody love track cycling :)

I wasn't alone wondering when uneven bars came in ... when the word asymmetric stopped being taught in schools seems one answer
but an adjunct https://forums.digitalspy.com/discussion/1706374/when-did-the-asymmetric-bars-become-the-uneven-bars

They can have the bars as close or as far apart as they want, but the move you're describing has been banned I think, something to do with injuries to internal organs. If the bars are further apart it means they can do more complicated (and high scoring) release and catch moves, that couldn't be done with the bars close together. There's nothing to stop them having the bars closer together, but they'd never score that highly, because they'd not be able to do the big release and catches.
....
Yeah, the Korbut Flip was one of the moves they banned, something to do with standing on the high bar.
