Tokyo Olympics 2020

Yeah, I'd have thought giving points to the positions (something like the F1 scoring system?) and adding them up would make more sense.

I think it was partly to placate the people (like me) that weren't happy with the speed being part of the medal.

The multipliers mean that if you are good and bouldering and lead, the speed matters less.

It's a bit crap the bouldering only had 3 problems though...and they were a bit ****. One balancey slab, one big dynamic one, and the shambles rising sun one with the impossible move. Not very exciting.

I quite liked them throwing a crack in the quali :) Although it seems the setters at my gym had been taking notes, two hand jam problems on the new set this week!

Why do people keep making Covid excuses? All the BBC presenters are saying it's been a hard year so that's why the GB athletes aren't doing as well as usual. Surely we aren't the only country who have been affected?

The boxer reminds me of all the england footballers taking their meals off after having them presented at the Euros - kind of see where they're coming from but on the other hand does seem rather childish and unsporting.

Watching some of the race walking atm. Actually very impressive watching them go, even if it looks like such an unnatural way to move. Also can't unsee their genitals flapping round in their shorts due to the exaggerated hip swaying now I've noticed it :o:eek:

Also reminds me of the malcolm in the middle episode where hank gets into race walking and goes up against the guy in blue with an aero helmet :D

I thought the boulder setting in the final was a bit poor. It didn't really add any separation of the scores as everyone pretty much did the same. The lead setting was pretty good though. I'm not entirely sure the scoring system worked but thankfully it should never have to be used again with speed being split off for the next Olympics.

I think some people think you either win or lose, and there isn't really any point in second place.

Is a terrible example to followers and spectators.

Some people are glowing like the sun to get a bronze and that happiness gets reflected in the audience.

Just like the disrespect to fellow competitors and the event by taking off your silver during the winners anthem gets reflected in the audience also...

*on the plus side he did express regret afterwards and wished he'd put on a brave face for the podium and everything he was meant to represent up there.

Yeah it's not a great message really. I noticed the same when England lost to Italy. Half of the players just got their medal and walked off but some chose to wear theirs.

Adam Ondra in the speed climbing finals is what you want.

He lost each of the races, but smashed his PB every time, and was absolutely stoked every time. Great to watch. Great example.

You can enjoy the competition and strive to succeed, but only one person can win ultimately, doesn't mean everyone else has to be miserable.

Before anyone claims Ondra is some kind of loser who celebrates mediocrity, they should read up on who they're talking about :P

Archibald looks like she's having the time of her life.

Absolutely. When boardman said she looks like she's struggling. Nah she looks like she knew she was winning a gold and was absorbing everything in. Just seen she was wearing her glasses too! Surprised they don't get steamed up behind the visor.
