Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege Revealed

Any news on them banning cheaters yet? :)

Well considering they don't even have a fix for the exploit that allows defenders to go outside I think a ban on cheaters won't happen for a while.

From the Ubi forums:

Top Priorities and Known Issues | Updated 1/7/2016
In order to have a clear understanding of where issues originate from and how fast our responses to problems could be we want to highlight the 3 main components that are responsible for delivering the Rainbow Six|Siege experience.

Game client (GC): It is your copy of the game that you have installed on your PC or Console (Updating it requires a Title Update).
Dedicated game servers (DGS): It’s a dedicated game server running on data centers distributed around the world to guarantee the best experience, this is where your PVP (Casual and Ranked) game is running. Only 10 players connect at a given moment to a given Game Server. Depending on the severity of the fix we can update it seamlessly or with a maintenance.
Online Backend (Backend): This is where the bulk of our online services run i.e. (Matchmaking, Ranking … etc), this is a centralized set of servers that all users are connected to, and acts as the backbone for all of our services. It is running on specialized hardware and software like databases. This is the part that gets impacted the most by the load from of users in peak hours. It also can be updated seamlessly or with a maintenance.

High Priority Issues

Issue Name: Error 2-0x00000041
Priority: 1
Platform impacted: All platforms
Error description: The error can be caused by multiple malfunctions of the different networked systems that is between the game client and our servers. One of the causes that was identified is an unexpected behavior caused by some home router and ISP configurations making the error more recurrent. (Impacts GC and DGS)
Issue Fix State: In progress
Upcoming Fixes & Timing:
Extending connection timeout periods to increase the robustness and react better to drops in internet quality of service. (Update 1.2 on PC/Consoles)
Being resistant to router changing outgoing port between rounds of gameplay so the connection doesn't drop. (Update 1.2 on PC, Update 1.3 on Consoles)
We will be investigating the other causes/fixes.

Issue Name: Loading Screen "Freeze" (Smoke Background)
Priority: 1
Platform impacted: All platforms
Error description: The user may remain stuck in an infinite loading screen when joining a session. The issue is mainly caused by waiting for state synchronization between our backend, the servers, and the game client.
We have identified two issues that we are working on:
Case 1: Players stuck on a loading screen while hearing the game running. The situation resolves itself when the next round starts. (Impacts GC)
Case 2: Players join a game that is stuck in a state that can take a very long time to finish. This is caused by communication issues between the backend and the DGS.
Issue Fix State: In progress
Upcoming Fixes & Timing:
We have identified the cause of Case 1 and we have a fix in place for Update 1.2 on PC/Console.
We have identified another reproduction cause for Case 2 and it is currently under investigation.

Issue Name: Game Exploit: Defenders Allowed To Go Outside During Prep Phase (Red Wall)
Priority: 1
Platform impacted: All platforms
Error description: When doing specific actions, players can bypass the red wall that is intended to prevent the defenders from going outside during prep phase. (Impacts GC and DGS)
Issue Fix State: In progress
Upcoming Fixes & Timing: Update 1.3

Issue Name: Extended Matchmaking Connection Time
Priority: 1
Platform impacted: All platforms
Error description: Irregularly long matchmaking queue time for some players. We have found a few cases that would impact some players during peak hours and we are working on fixing them. We are currently gathering more information to isolate the specific cause.
Issue Fix State: Under investigation
Upcoming Fixes & Timing: TBD

Issue Name: Failed Data Synchronization
Priority: 1
Platform impacted: All platforms
Error description:
Users get stuck on synchronizing data at the end of a round.
0 Renown issue: Players do not see the "visual cue" when awarded with their Renown or, in some cases, do not receive Renown at all.
This happens due to an error in the connection between our DGS and our backend. We are trying to isolate the issue and deploy a fix as soon as possible.
Issue Fix State: Under investigation
Upcoming Fixes & Timing: TBD

Issue Name: Party of 4 Matchmaking
Priority: 2
Platform impacted: All platforms
Error description: Some users are experiencing much longer matchmaking queue times if they try to find a match with a group of 4 players. This is caused by our matchmaking algorithm, and we are working on a fix that will be deployed in our backend.
Issue Fix State: In progress
Upcoming Fixes & Timing: TBD

Upcoming Patches

Update 1.2
Estimated deployment on PC: January 7th
Estimated deployment on all Consoles: January 14th
Note that already, we can tell that patch 1.2 will not fix all of the top connection issues (full patch note to be released when it goes live on PC), but we are actively working on fixing these issues as soon as possible.

Update 1.3
Estimated deployment on PC: Mid-January
Estimated deployment on all Consoles: End of January

Update 2.0 (Season 1)
February

I know of 2 people that have been using public cheats since near enough day 1, their accounts are still active. Then there are the people that are blatant...

It's becoming a bit of a joke in my opinion.

True, I can't see why that is so hard to fix?

It's a shame as this game has all the right things to be a major esport title. Ubi don't seem to want this though or at least don't want to invest in patching it.

Im quite impressed with the information regarding what they are doing for the game in the future, gives me hope as I always seem to get stuck in the load screen issue....

Is it really that hard to copy and paste some text to the operator selection screen so we can see what map and mode we're playing?

Well one of them got me in the last round I wasn't expecting a roamer lol.

12-2 was a disgusting k/d digi lol.

Was happy with the hackusations against me though :D. They haven't posted the video yet :(.

Well we did play 5 rounds, which is 2 more than we normally play in casual so it isn't really all that impressive. I've hit 14 kills in a ranked game before but also had 4 deaths. I thought that team wipe from that window when I was playing doc in that other game was more disgusting. :D

Lol I'll have to check my log see if I caught it :D. I almost felt bad for them :D.

I'm up for more ranked matches tomorrow. Feel well get more of a challenge in there.

Dream team;
Digi
Haraken.wp
Super.wp
Albo/BG/Duey
Me (cheerleading duties)

:D.

I'm up for ranked matches with that roster if my ranked .wp guys aren't on. We're working our asses off to get into Gold.

I'd be happy just to see silver :(.

Don't really know what I'm doing wrong. I've won twice as many as lost and 90% of the time have a positive kd.

Maybe I don't have a high enough kd.

It's not about k/d. It's about staying alive long enough to play the objective or wipe out the other team. We won 3 ranked games in a row last night and half of us always had a low k/d. You absolutely cannot rush. Even as a roamer you need to play smart and make sure that if you die for the kills the trade-off is in your team's favor. 1 for 1 is absolutely not worth it. 1 for 2 is worth it if you can take out their key players (ie. shield or a high k/d player), otherwise they can still easily win with 3 vs 4 and your team is holed up in the objective room.

A rushing defending team took us to 0-3. They would run to near spawn areas and clear us out before we got anywhere near the objective. But once we figured out their bs strategy we just took it slow and used the drones, even near spawn area to avoid being killed. We turned the game around and won 5-3. Slow and steady definitely wins the race in this game.

Splitting up the squad into two is also a good strategy. It stresses their roamer(s). If you can get one person in each sub-squad to drone then that will help your partner(s) to advance. The drone is underplayed in Casual. When you play against competitive players the drone is an absolute must. It's not just a tool for finding enemies, it can be used as bait and a distraction.

Good team composition is also something people aren't taking advantage of. Castle, Mute/Bandit, Rook should pretty much always be on the defense team. People forget that utility better supports the team, not the ability to run around fast with the possibility of getting a good flank. For attacking, a good team will usually have a shield to help the squad advance. Thatcher and Thermite are also necessities for the team to help create new breach points and exploit the element of suprise.

Some very good ideas.

In my defense I was purely thinking about my own rank there not being helpful to the team :D.

I wonder what the algorithm is to determine rank in rainbow. I don't think I'm a great player but I would have thought I'd be above bronze 2. Was really wondering if there was a way of gaming the stats without hindering what I normally do. Whether that be to take out more cameras or just stay alive longer.

Ultimately every person and group of friends or community members will have their own playstyle. Some people with their amazing skills can be a rusher and win most of their games.

But as an older gamer I know I cannot compete with people with higher reflexes. The only way I can win is to help the team figure out how to outsmart the opponents. And all that requires is adapting your strategies according to the opponent's playstyle. They want to rush? Take advantage of that. They want want to camp out on the objective? Take advantage of breach points that players usually neglect.

This is why I so much prefer this game over CS. It's not just about reflexes and pre-firing. There's a lot of depth to the game that people aren't giving enough credit.

Hmm I don't really do enough thinking if I'm honest. I'm sure this goes without saying but I'm the more rush and try type :D.

I'll have a shot at trying to be more tactical. Can't hurt :).
