Tom Tom worthwhile?

I always used to recommend Waze, but the more I use it the more it's routing lets me down.

I wanted to drive from Southampton to Burford, near Oxford. Its a pretty simple drive of 80 miles which should take just under 1.5 hours along the M27, M3, A34 then A40. Waze in it's infinite wisdom decided that the best route was one that went M27, M3, M25, M40 then A40, totalling 122 miles!!

It's also always telling me to take stupid little detours, like turning off a main road to follow a service road than runs parallel to the main road, only to turn back onto the main road 100m further down!

I love Waze's interface, but unfortuntely you need to have faith that your SatNav will take you to your destination using the best route possible, and I've lost that faith with Waze.

yah, as i said i use it more for delays on routes i know, rather than relying on it.

The traffic reporting on the TomTom app never fails to impress me. On the way home today, it told me there was a three minute delay, at exactly the point the display started showing slow traffic, I slowed down. When it showed clear, I sped up!

Good to hear. I will be subscribing to traffic too. I used the TomTom app on the journey that I previously completed with Skobler and Nav free. Unsurprisingly, it was a good deal better :D

It is still £40 at the moment too. Western Europe is also only £50.

I have the Tom Tom on my iphone, but when i try to buy voices it says they are not currently available in my area, anyone else having this issue?
